Had to look Se Mo Laoch up. I wonder what made somebody request this horse amongst such illustrious company given it will be an 11 year old at the next Festival and has never run at Cheltenham before. Runs over a distance, often amateur ridden perhaps somebody is aware of a target.
Maybe going Hunter Chasing ? Half decent handicapper. I'd say the strangest thing is why would they include the other 4 in their request ?? Very random but an interesting spot Eggs.

    • The below tweet is from March 2020 Eggs. Entered for Kim Muir. Didn't make it (Missed cut). I suspect that'll be his target again. Nice work. One to keep an eye on at monster odds.

Former Clare hurler Brian McMahon is heading to the #CheltenhamFestival again and he believes his S? Mo Laoch has a "squeak" in the Kim Muir Chase #rteracing

Speaking to RT? Sport's Eamon Horan, a quietly confident McMahon said: "It's all on the day you know because if you go over there in good form and get the breaks and jump well, I'd say he has a little bit left up his sleeve."

"If we can get the most out of him, I think he'll have a squeak.
"Listen, I'm not saying to have the week's wages on him, but as I said he'll have a squeak."

….well found, Matey. Some reasonable form over longer distances so I was thinking the Kim Muir might be the most likely. As you say, one to keep an eye on.

He was entered for the Kim Muir in 2019 also but again missed the cut. I can't find the entries for this year's race. Was wondering if he missed out for a 3rd time?? (Can anyone help me?) If so, then if he gets in next year it'll be a plan 4 years in the making. Now that'll be something !!

          • he's rated 132 , another couple of pounds and he would have got in 5 of the last 6 years , not much work needed this season

Agreed. It'll be his last chance I suspect. I think we've found our Kim Muir horse in August....

                  • Interested how Cormier runs on flat at Sandown today (5.45). He's one I fancy for a big handicap next year , Coral Cup, Pipe, Pertempts. Ran a decent race in the Greatwood last season. His flat form is good as well and the step up today could suit him for you Flat guys out there.

                    • Looking to go to the festival this year… shamefully have to admit my last visit was 2013! What’s the main difference with the tatts and club enclosure? I’m not sure what tickets I’ve had in the past. Is the difference worth the extra?

I've always gone in Club so couldn't tell you if it's a waste of money vs Tatts, but it's never felt like it to me. I spend what feels like every second of an entire year looking forward to being there so don't mind paying a few quid extra to be able to stand by the winning post if I wish to, which I more often than not do. Couple of extra bar and toilet options help too! I think you also get access to the centre of the course for certain races, but i've not ticked that one off yet, even though I promise myself every year I will!

                        • Club is definitely worth it Dee Bee. Tatts will pretty much limit you to the rails and the Guinness Village further down the course. Either that or the Centaur which is just a giant betting hall with a big screen. Club gives you all options (including those), other than Members and Hospitality, and you've a much better chance of seeing the racing, getting a drink, food, etc.

In terms of how busy, they both are anyway, so for me the decision is how easy it is to see the races and get a good spot.

The alternative if you want a view and a seat would be to get Tatts tickets, but book a seat in the Guinness Grandstand. I know people who have done that and said it's fine and gives you a guaranteed view of the racing.

The best option in my opinion though is become a member, where you're guaranteed a busy but good view of the racing, and a few options in terms of a table for the day. Value-wise, the cost of membership is only slightly more than four days of Club tickets, and you get a better and guaranteed view, plus every other meeting over the year.

Better quieter bars and much better quieter toilets, and never underestimate the value of the latter !
As Atlantic Viking said you can only access the centre of the course from the Club lawn so if that appeals to you you'll need the upgrade - have to say I always watch a couple from there as well as the Cross Country.

One quick calculation that might be useful is work out how much it costs for you to get there, accommodation, beer, food and betting, then work out the difference between Tatts and Club....

I agree. Even as members we bought a ticket each day for the Final Flight.
