  • PP paid out on ante post special Bob, Honey and Energumene!

EDIT odds reduced obviously with BOB not running. But technically should be lost!

        • I have been catching up with all the threads since a successful Cheltenham. It was my 1st Antepost year and best year I have had in 10 years, I certainly know it will be no easy feat to follow up again this year. As always the knowledge already for 2022 is second to none, I managed to get on board with a few early shouts from Saxon Warrior.

As a side note I am heading over to Cardiff on 11th June for my brothers stag do and wondering any suggestions on good pubs / places to eat at etc. all suggestions welcome

No advice other than: don’t wear a Swansea shirt. Have fun.

My Nephew runs bars and clubs in Cardiff. I'd recommend Soda for a stag for the second half of the night. If you let me know closer to the time I could arrange something for you.

There are million and one good eating and drinking places in Cardiff, and plenty in the same kind of area of the City.

Which hotel are you staying in?
Luck is a dividend of sweat. The more I sweat, the luckier I get.

Brilliant Spectre, sounds great. I will DM you near the end of the month and go from there.

We are flying into Bristol, then getting the train across, couldn’t believe ?10 return on the train from Bristol to Cardiff.

Staying at the Travelodge Central beside the train station, very central for everywhere and hoping the atmosphere is good with Wales playing their first Euro match on the Saturday against Switzerland.

                  • In which case you're quite literally over the road from Soda, and there's plenty of bars and restaurants around you.

It's likely the Wales players will head to Soda late on, so you're unlikely to spot anyone famous. I though I'd get that one in for The King Pimm's benefit!

                    • Did all these places survive the pandemic ?
Hope I’m wrong but having worked in commercial property for many years when I speak to my old contacts there’s a fear city/town centres will look very different unless there is a central directive (government) that forces people to get to their central town/city workplace as outlets like bars and restaurants see less footfall and will fail.

Worth checking the racing fixtures, Ffos Las and Chepstow doable from Cardiff...

Having been for the rugby many times, why not try to blend in and take part in everyone's favourite activity of going to St Mary's Street, take your shirt off, try to fight a bouncer and then attempt to not bleed on your curry chips on Chippy Lane

                        • Not necessarily of note for The Festival but Duc des Genievres looks to have gone to Tom George and is running at Auteil tomorrow over hurdles. Does Paul Nicholls still have any of the Sullivan horses or have they all been either sold on or moved elsewhere?

                          • Faugheen, Douvan & Benie des Dieux retired. Top quality horses, I wish them well in retirement. Gutted as I think Douvan outside of the pelvis injury would've gone straight to the top.

It certainly will be tough for towns/cities with footfall for a while, hopefully they can all survive long enough until we get back to normality, if that is possible.

I would love to get a race meeting in, but only me that follows the racing, so would be a no go unfortunately, not even sure if those courses are having spectators back yet.

To be honest not sure what the weekend will allow with restrictions, Wales are ahead of N.I so hoping things open up more in the next 5 weeks.
