I can imagine they’ll introduce something similar into shops in the future like a compulsory betting card that is linked to your online account, where they keep a full profile on you that you have to produce in order to place a bet. I think Ladbrokes and corals already have these, just not compulsory yet.
Punters are traffic light graded by shop staff for head office bet referrals, Green, Amber and Red, I’ve found myself an ‘Amber’ in a few shops despite them not knowing my identity nor me ever having a winning bet there.
Someone in here mentioned the automated machines, I’ll be making my way to those as soon as shops open and as soon as someone tells me how to use them...

WH are the only machines doing a full range of antepost markets as far as I am aware.
They are easy to use.
Does feel odd, feeding ?20 notes into the guzzling automated slot though.
No change given so you have to put the exact cash in.
Ladbrokes machines just do the days racing, you have to request antepost prices at the counter.

Stupid question, but having fed the thing with a wad of twentys is there a chance your bet gets rejected ?
I’m thinking a patent/yankee with a potential 6 figure payout, I’d have thought there is an element of risk control within the machines....

If you’ve used the William hill website it’s practically the same setup on the automated machines. They’re easy to use I’m sure you’ll be fine.

They sometimes get referred to a trader so you have to wait there for a few mins while getting stared at by people waiting to use the machine. Depends on your bet size I suppose but if you do it in smaller increments you should be fine.

Never had a problem with rejection of bets.
I've backed what I wanted on mutli-bets antrpost on their machines without referrals by it.
Even to the ?1M max payout.
I recall one ?30 antepost Cheltenham bet being referred, though, and being allowed ?25 at 50/1, not ?30.
I suppose I could have backed it a little later to make up the missing fiver or used another machine.

Yes there is
I tried to put ?30 on a greyhound last march when collecting some Cheltenham bets and the betting terminal rejected my bet and only allowed me ?10 on
I asked the guy behind the counter why, he said the machines lost a lot of money the week before and the system was now much stricter
I didnt ask any more questions as I know the bloke who had done them for a lot and was arbing on the golf
