Well to my mind he was banned, but now it appears he will still be allowed to be involved in the training? So its not really a ban, is it?

I was going to say that he doesn’t physically train his horses by getting on the back of them. But he obviously does sometimes
Yeh,its a fair point him living there, but my point is he should not be allowed to work there if hes banned, but it appears he is allowed.

        Hard to police that.
he’s not trainer in name only
but aside from being warded off then this is always the case.

Well i dont think it can be policed, other than by Elliott himself. Maybe it would help him, and maybe racings reputation? if he came out and said hes not assisting in any way for the 6 months? Rather than saying hes available if needed.

Currently it does appear as though he is potentially managing from the dugout but nore sure what else can realistically done. I expect that GE won't want to be caught out again doing something to contravene the ban so I expect he will for self preservation reasons keep out of things unless specifically asked.

            • CAT,
Would you like GE to get on his knees and apologise to you in person?? would that do it for you??. Just leave it as its none of your business anyway. Go and annoy someone else on SM.

              • This makes me chuckle....

Gordon Elliott catches a cold so Sneezy Foster takes over running the yard.

                • Is there any suggestion Elliott will be continuing to 'work' ?
I would have thought there is some sort of checking process to ensure he isn't involved in the day to day running of the yard but I personally don't see an issue with him taking a few calls or sitting in meetings if it will help the new trainer.

Ultimately the new trainer will say the buck stops with her, it has to by law, when you have a licence you carry liability for everything within the operation from horse welfare to staff appraisals, she would be left totally exposed if Elliott took any active involvement, she knows this and the law is very clear about it...

                  • I think a lot is being made about just an awkward turn of phrase. He said similar about the horses that went to Willie and Henry. I'm pretty sure he just means she can ask his opinion, not that he's shadow training them.

Throughout this process after initially bungling it Elliott has to my eyes taken it all seriously and leant in to his punishment. Would seem a bit weird to jeopardise that

Apologies Kev, but i aint taking that from anyone.
Not one of my posts warranted that response imo.

                          • Has anyone been to the Dublin Racing Festival or even just Leopardstown when there's a decent crowd in? Curious as to whether it's fine when it's busy or if the queues for drinks, toilets etc... just make it a naff experience? I've always been impressed by how well run Cheltenham is, but 2000 Guineas Day at Newmarket was absolutely dire for example and there can be such a big difference in how courses manage big crowds. Cheers.

Ya, its well laid out at Leopardstown, plenty of room out front and back of the stands and lots of good vantage points of the track available. Not as well organised as Cheltenham but not far off it either. Fairly quick and easy to get food or a drink and the bathrooms have the same size queues as what I've experienced at Chelt. One warning, it's possibly the coldest spot on the island of Ireland once the sun goes behind the stands in the winter and spring, so come well wrapped up. Dublin is an ideal city for a weekend away also, they do well in attracting the domestic crowds but i'm surprised they haven't tried harder to lure the foreign punters more.
