For the public, this will be hard to stomach. Those that criticise our sport have effectively been handed a loaded gun, but it hasn't been picked up in mainstream media the way I thought it would be, and I personally see news reports/adverts about animals that I find more upsetting than this. The public's response will be partially influenced by how the racing community responds, and I think the response so far has been good (Gordon's publicists reply was farcical though).
Those involved in racing have heavily condemned this, straight away, almost unanimously. NH racing has loyal workers and loyal supporters, in their millions. We all know one instance of what wev'e seen is indefensible, and one instance is one too many, but in the grand scheme of things a few complete wrong uns is normal in every walk of life, and it should not be allowed to ruin it for everyone else.
As for commercial entities, they will distance themselves from the wrong doers and continue business as normal. Betfair being a prime example. ITV will condemn this strongly, and probably launch an initiative to encourage anyone with photos/videos of any wrongdoing to send them to a specific place so those accountable can be punished strongly.
Far too easy with emotions charged to throw out stuff like 'this is the end of racing' or 'racing should be suspended', but there are thousands of jobs and livelihoods at stake here, with thousands of responsible owners, trainers and stable staff, millions of viewers and billions of pounds. The behaviour of two morons will not bring this industry to it's knees.
It's hard to envisage this now because everything is very raw, but my long term hope is this brings the entire industry together to completely clean up racings image and eject all those that bring the game into disrepute.

But I think Gordon will be OK. It is clearly very hard right now, but this will pass, and I think the likes of Gigg, Robcour and the Moran's will continue to back him. CPS were always the most likely to move horses I think. And they only had a couple of top class ones with him.

Like everyone else, I was appalled by the photo, but people make mistakes. We all do. Hopefully he will learn from this and come back a better person. To even think of him being banned for life would be a crazy over reaction.

Maybe I'm looking at it from the perspective of my ante post book (which I'm not ashamed to do after you invest a lot of time and money towards it) but it's something around the timing of all this.
Everyone knows what a tough year it has been for many industries and the bookmaking fraternity included what with all the shops being closed and punters not allowed at the course.....
So, they have lost a lot of money right? Or should I say, not made as much as they normally would have!
Why is this video released two weeks before the biggest festival of the national hunt season, both in terms of ante post and on the day wagers...
The video is released and all of a sudden GE's horses can't run (I know that is not definite), the likes of Envoi, Zanahiyr, Galvin, horses which will not only hold millions of ante post money but also the high potential of big pay outs just vanish! Money held by the bookies!
Got to love a conspiracy theory!
I do think whoever has released it will end up regretting this as it could lead to job losses for some of the stable staff etc and it should have been sent to the IHRB first and if a satisfactory response was not received, then release on social media.

I just hope that behind the scenes the IHA & the BHA are in conversation. Just don’t want them not agreeing on any action taken, and having an ongoing argument in the media. I understand that IHA have the authority in this matter for any fines etc, but would be good if both bodies were in agreement.

Yes I do. Could be banned for a period of time, but not forever.

But i also heard that it was linked to Labaik's crime boss former owner.
Probably shite all the same.
