Absolutely, i think ITV have done the sport in general the world of good with their coverage and specifically seek to enhance the reputation of racing and the people involved.

The whole team handle things well, and obviously Fitzy has spoken on Sky Sports this week already. It will be addressed correctly - but there is also the reality that this will present it to casual Saturday racing viewers who were not aware during the week.

How many people will see RacingUK discussions on it outside of the racing fan bubble? A fraction of those that will see ITV coverage.

I personally would trust Ed Chamberlain to handle this well
Very notable for me the radio silence from Ed over the last 48hrs. That to me is louder than anything. Some serious high level meetings going on at ITV I would sadly imagine....

      • These incidents happened in Ireland so ITV may choose to go down the Route of separating UK racing from Irish racing and pointing out and promoting that UK racing cares about the horses. I can see Nicholls, Henderson et al offering unrestricted access to their stables when the situation allows to show the care 99.9% of staff have for the horses it’s a small gesture but those who have nothing to hide will have nothing to fear.

Naivety on my part maybe as I’m sure this isn’t an isolated incident we just haven’t been made aware it has happened.

        • Some rumours that horses will be running under the assistants name.

          Hope they're true.

They are stubborn bastards, but sticking by Gordon Elliot does not negate a temporary change who the horses are officially trained by so they can run at Cheltenham and/or aintree before being switched back. They might say fuck it, just to put two fingers up at the BHA, but they’ve no real stars this year and probably stand more to gain than the festival does from their participation or not, they’d probably be cutting their nose off with that one.

I hope so too Kev! That might be me being selfish but not going to lie!

                      • Rumours just flying all over, people saying all sorts of stuff. No doubt we will hear from CPS in the upcoming days for clarity.

He has posted a few minutes ago saying.

Damaging few days for the sport - yes
                          Represntitive - No

                            That was exactly my reaction.

But I think Gordon will be OK. It is clearly very hard right now, but this will pass, and I think the likes of Gigg, Robcour and the Moran's will continue to back him. CPS were always the most likely to move horses I think. And they only had a couple of top class ones with him.

                            • Whilst I find the images that have been displayed on social media sites over the past few days sickening, I can't help but wonder if there is an alternative motive to all this!

Maybe I'm looking at it from the perspective of my ante post book (which I'm not ashamed to do after you invest a lot of time and money towards it) but it's something around the timing of all this.

Everyone knows what a tough year it has been for many industries and the bookmaking fraternity included what with all the shops being closed and punters not allowed at the course.....

So, they have lost a lot of money right? Or should I say, not made as much as they normally would have!

Why is this video released two weeks before the biggest festival of the national hunt season, both in terms of ante post and on the day wagers...

The video is released and all of a sudden GE's horses can't run (I know that is not definite), the likes of Envoi, Zanahiyr, Galvin, horses which will not only hold millions of ante post money but also the high potential of big pay outs just vanish! Money held by the bookies!

Got to love a conspiracy theory!

As far as I'm concerned this stuff should be going direct to BHA and IHRB not to social media. There is definitely an ulterior agenda here for sure.
