  • The IHRB and BHA do need to be careful to make sure the punishment fits the crime

If they overreact it could play into the hands of the anti horse racing groups that want the sport ended in the long run

They need to come up with some sort of punishment but It cant be too draconian as it could set a bad precedent that ends up doing more damage to the sport than good

likewise they can't be too lenient otherwise same will happen. im not sure about precedent though as I am hoping we don't compare this to similar things in future from trainers

The anti horse racing people will find fault no matter what they do as that's their agenda

They need to be careful they don't cut off their nose to spite their face

But at the same time demonstrate to the horse racing community and general public they are taking it seriously and the ethical treatment of horses is a cornerstone of the sport

Stopping huge owners like Gigginstown, Cheveley Park and the Morans from running the horses they own and paid millions at the showpiece event of national hunt racing cant be good for the sport

Banning Gordon and having the horses run under his assistant trainers name would seem the best solution off the top of my head if they want to go down that route.

Or get him to donate money to charity and do voluntary community service

You cant punish the owners and stable staff for Gordon's stupidity imo

Punishing owners and punters for a trainer being a dick. This better be sorted before the festival.

                      • Year on year it’s something else. I listened to the nick luck podcast this morning and from what I understood the IHRB can’t rush it through and have to follow very strict legal proceedings? So what happens now?

Racing is by far the biggest shit show sport on earth.

Yeah apologies, I wasn’t suggesting your post was without perspective it was more a reference to the whole situation and your was the post I quoted.

Overall I think people have been extremely balanced on the matter (in FJ) which is good to see....

How long does it take to switch a horse to a different trainer?
