Sorry changing the subject a little but I know there's been a fair amount of chat in here regarding accounts and I felt compelled to share that I lost my Hills account yesterday! I can only think it was due to the Elimay special (1st/2nd today and win the Mares Chase). First one of those doubles I've taken all season so it seems like more than just a coincidence.
I'd resigned myself to losing it at some stage and I was quite surprised when it survived last year's festival. Still annoying though.
I will miss their 'any race' market which is always more comprehensive than others. In fact I often find their ante post pricing to be some of the more generous out there, especially with the boosts.
Look after those accounts folks!!!
Onwards and upwards.
Ah that is annoying. Seems an odd reason to close you down though?
Plenty of their prices and any race options lead to higher numbers on non-runners, I try and use them as little as I can ... if that makes you feel any better, which it won't...

Yes I thought that too, but I can't pretend I've any idea what goes into these algorithms they use to determine what is an account closing act! Maybe they just finally caught up with me. Not going to lose any sleep over it and there are still a fair few firms I haven't opened with so hoping I'll still have plenty of options for a good while yet.
Historically I'd say Hills are my 2nd/3rd most used for ante post betting. Definitely 3rd this season behind 365 and BFSB, but I think that's only because BFSB have gone NRNB early so I've been doing a lot with them. I do much less 'day to day' betting now than I used to and I really don't think that is helping me with my accounts. Think I might need to start forward planning and get a couple of new accounts open with firms I haven't tried and run some muggy bets through them for a few months!
I'm always surprised I have a Hills account. Not cos I'm some shrewd punter, but a few years ago I saw they were only payin 4 places in the National, so I wrote them an email calling them a disgrace and told them to close my account.
Always find it odd that bookies restrict you for using the specials, offers etc. that they have put there.
Bit like Tesco banning you for purchasing a 2 for 1 offer on the cornflakes
I’m enjoying using some of the alternative formats Kev.
Could I make a small request?
The most used button on the whole site must be the blue & white >> that you have to press to enter a thread.
Any chance we could make this bigger?
Its tiny on iPad & im forever accidentally clicking on the posters name by mistake. One to add to your fragging list

Unfortunately not..... everyones sausage fingers weren't factored in

I think it's because it's what they would describe as a 'novelty' market and can't be tested against the market because it's unlikely others are offering the same bet...

Hills are now only giving me pence to bet with and it's annoying as I liked using them because they are the first to price up after final decs and I like to get on early. I've still got my wife's account but that is slightly restricted and I can only see it going one way.
Question I have revolves around another Hills account that I have in my name but is open under a different username. I haven't started using this account but was wondering what the implications maybe if I were to start, especially as I have so many open antepost bets with my restricted account. Any thoughts?

I lost mine yesterday too VK. I'm blaming taking the Royal Pagialle Betfair Chase special.

If they link accounts they’ll restrict/close all accs they suspect are yours, they can’t cancel/void any bets already placed so there are no implications on what you have outstanding.
I would suggest identifying the bet/bets you most want to place and getting these on first, the. If your account gets restricted/closed the main bets you wanted are on.
Common theme here with Hills...

I don’t think it’s as simple as that, they won’t/don’t close accs for people backing something they’ve priced up wrong, I suspect there’s a deeper strategy with Hills, someone said earlier they’re in the throws if being sold so maybe they’re shutting down all ante post punters so future liabilities can’t impact negotiations/sale price.
I’m guessing but it sounds plausible...

Oh dear. Maybe we caught some gaffer in their risk team having a bad day! Interesting that you also feel it could be linked to the specials. It’s the only thing I can put it down to as all my other betting with them over recent days/weeks has just been ‘normal’ - I haven’t done anything out of the ordinary, in fact I can’t even remember when the last winning bet on the account was. It is (was) almost solely used for ante post.
