Any bets on the week generally will be filling any gaps that are left to make a full book (if that’s what I’m after in a particular race), making the most of any specials on the day, as well as some handicap bets (often permed each way doubles with better place terms on the day). Utilising the specials gave me a couple of my biggest individual returns in 2020 as I wouldn’t have backed Lisnegar Oscar without the PP in shop special of money back as a free bet of up to ?20 if Paisley Park won - as well as the 150/1 (also with PP) for the first four home in the AB.

That 90% done does include some bets on the week before the Festival as the 5-Day decs for races come out from Weds-Saturday Pre-Festival, when some new bets are struck NRNB and the odd cash-out too.
Usually 70%-ish done at the point the Handicap Decs come out, and then the Weights the following week, with NRNB on all races, then new bets placed, and some cashed-out."Journeys to Glory, breathing in his head".

Probably puts me in a very small minority on here! I love reading the opinions on here and there's tons of useful info, but i've always been more about the buzz of betting on course on the day myself (i've been to some incredibly sparsely populated midweek meets around the country...).

Being there and seeing everything else being rowed along and then looking at your horse swinging off the bridal is a wonderful feeling and then running down the steps of the stand to get to the front of the paying out queue is glorious. A pint to celebrate with your mates in the bar after and then onto the next race. Boy do I miss it !!!!! Cunting Covid. Long live the Vaccine!!!!!
