So many sad stories on here, my very best wishes to each and every one of you.

I've been fairly lucky in that the company i work for chose my branch to be the only one to stay open all the way through to supply the NHS with materials, and also care homes, supermarkets, fire stations police etc. I was so thankful. I'm not sure how i would have coped if i had been furloughed or had to work from home, i would have gone stir crazy i think. i know lots of people that are still working from home, and although initially they said it was great (If you recall at the start of lockdown the weather was really good) they are now champing at the bit to go back. I'm sure its the company / crack that i would miss

TKP - What genre of covers band do you play in and are you the Freddie Mercury or the Brian May ?

Neither Freddie nor Brian, I’m a bass playing lead singer so limited to what postering and posing I can do whilst trying to sing. I’m in a party covers band called The Hotdogs, we play songs to get people dancing, mainly play wedding parties etc. We’re a very good live band though and a genuine live band (no backing tracks) who sound pretty authentic. We’ve been playing covers for around 15 years after giving up writing our own indie alternative songs that no one showed much interest in. We sold our souls for pop rock classics and been drinking from the poisoned chalice since. It’s good fun though and their are much harder ways to earn money.

I have a lot of empathy for everyone here, and praise them for sharing their situations.

I felt I sailed through first lock down - my work have committed to no redundancies, and due to the income I bring in I avoided furlough. I'm a renter but have a lovely big garden. I was pretty lucky.

But then a month ago my dad found out, he's, well I struggle to say it. He has something serious and he's not likely to get better. He starts chemo on Monday and I can't even go to see him and it's killing me.

The work pressure is on and I've been getting ever loaded up and struggling to cope. Today I found out those people giving me work had asked my boss' permission, he'd said no, and they'd gotten me to do it anyway. I'm fairly senior so have a hefty notice period and it's been a struggle all day not to just jack it tbh, like I actually wrote my resignation and my wife had to talk me down.

Might delete this later as i could be identified from it, but today I'm in a mood to burn the world down

Best wishes to you mate. It's always dreadful when somebody is diagnosed with that, let alone in times like these. In terms of the job, remember there's always other stuff out there and it's much easier to get a job while you've already got one.

A huge thumbs up to everyone sharing their stories on here, it's really given a much more human feel to the place and shown just the amount of shit that everybody has to go through.

I’m gutted for you Robith, you sound like you’re in a pretty dark place. Try your best to keep your chin up, it will get better, it just feels very bleak at present. I wish your Dad the best with his treatment and hope he responds positively

Well I'm glad I asked how everyone is doing, reading these last few pages back it makes you take a step back and realise just how much of a struggle life can be and how important it is to celebrate the little things, the small wins and the fact we have this community now of genuine compassion between us all is just amazing really. You're all amazing

What a great place this really is - I just keep wondering why I didn’t sign up sooner! Not only is the level of knowledge and insight unrivalled, the sense of community is unmatched as well.

I count myself as one of the lucky ones work-wise as I’ve been working from home since mid-March. The Mrs has been working from home as well and all things considered we have adapted ok to being workmates as well! On a personal level it’s definitely starting to take its toll though and it’s only going to get harder for everyone once the winter kicks in. Sadly my wife’s dad died a couple of months in to lockdown and she was unable to travel home for the funeral abroad, so that certainly hasn’t been easy, and my dad is also not in good health.

Looking forward to the festival next year is definitely providing a much-needed focus and distraction - and I think the current situation has definitely influenced a change in the way I have approached it so far this year. I’ve definitely done more bets overall at this point compared to last year - and that’s without talking about the use of random roll-ups which I never even considered before. It’s very strange not having a racing related trip to look forward to but I’m very glad we managed to get in a trip to the DRF at the start of this year - the plan to go back in 2021 not looking good though!

Where abouts in Notts are you Outlaw? I'm in Mansfield, things aren't so bad here.

While we're all sharing, my Dad died of Covid at the start of lockdown, we werent allowed to see him before he died. Then his funeral was limited to just 10 people. He was the only person i had to talk about racing with, part of the reason ive been on the forum alot more this year.

To be honest, im quite thankful for lockdown. Things are so different to how they used to be it that made loss easier to accept somehow.
