I have read loads of racing/gambling books including all of the above and by far the best was "Horsesweat and Tears, year in the life of John Dunlop" it had everything including a great deal of sadness,

The annual weather/ground debate, love it !
Where's the thread ?
They need 9mm every night for soft ground, the course has the best drainage system (too good) in racing and a couple of dry days in Spring weather can change the going considerably.
14 day forecasts are never reliable, I'd suggest a solid judgement can only be made next weekend onwards...

Yes, but that's only a single night. A course would need to be getting that downfall regularly to stay soft. Bailey could do with telling us how much rainfall he gets every night, here on in.
Will keep checking his daily blog and will update every day if there are any figures.

Really good point about Banbridge. I’ve just taken the big cashout value offered on my antepost single and switched to NRNB. I can’t see him running if it’s soft, and it was notable how downbeat Blake, who’s linked to JOB yard, was last night about him running on the At the Races preview. 365 are offering a boost on Envoi Allen in the race, which might be worth taking.

“We’d be soft ground, as you can imagine with the rain that we’ve had, and the cross country would be heavy in places as well.”
While further rain is forecast in the coming days, Pullin is not expecting a huge swing in conditions either way ahead of day one of the Festival on March 12.
He added: “The forecast for the next seven to 10 days remains unsettled. Thursday looks as if it could be quite wet, but apart from that it’s just little bits and pieces.
“We’ll see how we go, but if that forecast remains, we’ll have similar ground to what we do now for the start of the Festival, I would imagine."

I could be getting the wrong end of the stick here, but seems Oddschecker are moving to a model where you have to pay to see the grids.
if they think im paying a tenner to not have to open each app individually, they're underestimating how little I value my time
