Cheltmental & Finishing Line done a Collab tonight for trials day, basically Dave stuck up a few long shots, and some were questionable, but got cut down over and over again, just skip to the last 2 mins of the stream and Dave had enough and snapped basically and cut the stream dead on an awkward atmosphere... Good for him though, Halligan coming across fairly awful again.

Looked it up and watched how it finished, what a remarkably patient man, that was pretty dignified given how those others were carrying on

Finishing Line is a shocking watch. I do really like Sean but not enough to tolerate the two 'hosts' or the other chump. Mind you Sean has let himself down there. Boring and snide. The worst of Antepost podcasts. Good on Dave.

Watched it all for context, and he just got fed up didn't he ?

His mate Jamie let him down a bit IMO. He seems a nice enough guy but his hubris bubbles over every now and then.

The other lads were just being their normal self's though (whose banter can get tiresome if not done with enough skill), Like younger annoying brothers repeating catchphrases from the telly incessantly. I think their mate Tom's not bothering so much these days as he's a bit tired of it also.

and Dave maybe should have lasted it out just a bit more, then not bothered with them much in future.

I like them all though, and good luck to them for getting out there and doing stuff they like doing.

But I Listened to the last 20mins there, and think Dave took it really bad and threw a strop? Now if they where doing it throughout the video at every selection and say was more of "bullying" than a bit of banter then could maybe justify his reaction, but I think they where just giving him a hard time in no malicious way imo in that last race i listened to. Can anyone add anymore to it? Obviously I don't know any of them, listened to alot of the Finishing line last year, but haven't this year, but as Q says I think that's just the way they act/get on, just ripping into each other as mates.

Yeah they just wore him down, and offered nothing in the middle ground which is where Jamie could have helped.
He should also have seen the signs that Dave was feeling it.
And Dave will be regretting his strop I'm sure, but he seems balanced enough to get over it and put it in perspective, after he's slept on it.

No Caldwell horses will run between now and the sale. Which means the DRF is out. That will clearly affect many a race plan, but particularly the potential handicappers e.g. Might Bandit.

Just an FYI, all the Caldwell horses going to sale in Feb will not run between now and then (Caldwell Potter etc) according to Nick Luck. No DRF etc.

Highly likely they will be taken out of training until then IMO so as to not risk injury, cut costs etc. Big negative in my eyes for any of their horses

Just read no private sales allowed either! This is starting to look like a bit of a Gordon issue as that stops him from selling to another owner in the yard which would allow him continuity at this important time of the year. Fully accept I might be putting 2 + 2 together and getting 5.

It could be that they want them to go to the sales to guarantee the best price though. Agreeing private fees now could mean they risk taking a price lower than they could have got through the ring. If someone is interested in one of the horses privately, they'll likely still bid at the sales too and have competition driving the price no doubt. Gordon could still end up with the horses so I'm not sure they're blocking him in any way.

Just screams the tax man catching up on them IMO, wants all sales to go through the appropriate channels with no underarm and side payments which is prevalent in this industry. Why would you look to sell now also when you are getting to the business end of the season, could wait until end of the season or phase it out over time.

I suppose so, but as we know, private sales can often get much larger fees as owners don't want the competition. I don't see why they wouldn't at least entertain an offer. Would JP pay over the odds for say Mighty Bandit as a potential Boodles horse?

They could just be washing their hands of everything in the most efficient way possible and that would be to take the phone off the hook for 2 weeks and then spend one day selling them all.
