I cant be the only one that thinks it's ridiculous that race fixtures are being called off due to frost in 2024? We live in an era with some of the most sophisticated technology available and we cant stop some grass from getting frozen when a multi million pound Saturday race card is at stake. Even if the solution was as basic as fixing heated lamps to agricultural equipment and sending a few poor sods out there to drive around in circles all night, why hasn't a solution been found? Would cost fuck all what ive just suggested and thats an off the cuff idea. Rant over, probably

SURELY there has to be some way, which is more cost effective than losing a whole card at the track? Especially these more premium meetings.

Don’t know if they still do but the football clubs without undersoil heating used to use heated fans under the covers. I know it’s a larger area but must be doable? Or just have the covers themselves heated? Like giant electric blankets!

You're talking about trying to heat up an entire racetrack in, generally, open countryside? Good luck with that!My club for all its faults has a great pitch that is about 10% synthentic, it had frost covers and state of the art lamps (if there is such a thing) that they used in the way talked about here, both games lost to frozen pitches this week, they couldnt have done much more. Made a change from both games lost in the usual manner at least. Remember a few years back Rochdale having tons of barrels burning away all over the pitch to try thaw it out
didn't work.
