  • Are First Flow and Royale Pagaille genuine candidates for championship races at the Festival? Our Cheltenham expert Andy Gibson shares his views.

"The impact of ratings on the market" section is interesting read and a reason not to take all ratings literally.

    • Anyone playing in the Skybet Chase Saturday, just heard from owner Soujourn won’t be running.

My least favourite of all the bloggers on ATR.
Think he's full of shite mostly.
        Don't like him.

He's pigeon holed RP as another Bristol de Mai based on one run on Heavy at Haydock, but at the same time casts doubts over his stamina not being proven for the NH chase.

The First Flow right handed bias makes some sense (based on visuals) but the horse was rated low-mid 150's going all directions until the last day.
        Cyrname was very similar.

That's a bullet dodged as I had my eye on him for Saturday. Do you know the reason behind missing the race?

Yes Ista you are right, although I'm aware of someone who was given the option.

On Resolver under Gambling complaints and also posted on the Onlinebetting.org.uk website are the following summary of consumer rights.

'If you have been limited or suspended the company can restrict your bets or stop you placing any more but they cannot hold your money from you without a valid reason. If you are suspected of fraud or you haven't verified your account then funds can be withheld, otherwise you should be free to withdraw.

The site cannot refuse to pay you out on a bet prior to limiting you, neither can cancel without reason any bets placed before notification that are yet to settle.

Likewise the company should honour any promotions entered into prior to being limited. You should be able to keep any free bets or promo cash already awarded until the normal expiry time.'
Just to say Hills have now re-activated my login but emphasised my account remains closed and I’m unable to place any bets whatsoever.
I deleted the app and re-loaded an updated version but the irony is that all 97 ante post bets placed with them are still showing incorrect payout values and none of the bets show ‘boosted’ odds where applicable.
I’m comfortable my bets are still live and I am
able to see them but as for Hills as a business they continue to embarrass themselves and aren’t concerned at the perception customers/ex customers hold of them...

                    • Just catching up on this thread today, God traffic is wild lol

Fair play Lobos, I'm no expert and don't know your full circumstances but what its worth, as appealing as these offers are, i would be careful folks, especially to those who have an addictive personality, I think you have a well disciplined mind Lobos going by your posts on here and my advice to you and anyone is if the placing bets on in the shop works for you then stick to that. I know it might not work well for alot of ante post betting especially to the volumes of what I see posters on here do, may miss prices, cash out etc and I know plenty on here are very successful at that, but I am sure these guys have had years of practice and skilled to 'beat the system'

Think sound advice to stay away from online gambling to any young pups we have on here, may be looking to get house, loans etc I know there are good tools out there and scooby gratefully posted about some great help.

Might sound like a broken record or a boring git, but please do gamble responsibly everyone.

I hope that didn't come across condescending as that was not my thought process one bit!

Definitely IC. Personally I find that's something I do between Cheltenham and Aintree, and then after Punchestown through to the Guineas meeting. That period of the end of the jumps and start of the flat season proper is a graveyard, so it's a perfect time to take stock I think

                          • Couldn't agree more! I find the lead up to Cheltenham gets me into the "betting zone" and it takes time to come out of that once the Festival has finished. Definitely a time to avoid dodgy bets such as on unraced 2 year olds in 5 furlong maidens and do other things for a while!

yep, it's a wasteland of muggy bet potential, excellent time to kick back, time off and review.

I will always remember the first time I went to Cheltenham, it was like Christmas day.

I went into the bookies bit in Best Mate, and there's loads of lads, clearly been there all day, watching dog racing. In despair. Slips everywhere.

At this beautiful place, for the world cup of this sport, and it's still not enough to fulfil how perfidious this vice can be. Heartbreaking.

                              • On a similar note I've just seen a tweet from Andy Holding after noticing he's not done any tips for a few days:

"Due to a poor run of results, I've taken the decision to give myself some much-needed time off with a view to coming back with a fresh outlook for trials day next Saturday and beyond. Been on the go since June so hopefully just suffering from burnout. Regards Andy H"

Shows that all of us need to take a break at some point
