Crowdfunder - Fat Jockey Forum upgrade

Hello Fat Jockeys,

Upgrading the Fat Jockey forum!: https://www.crowdfunder.co.uk/p/fatjockeyforum

We're looking to upgrade the 'hosting CPU' so I've set up a crowdfunding project.

I would love it if you could donate using the link below to access my project page. Any contribution large or small will be hugely appreciated. Thank you.

Exactly that, zero chance he takes up that option…

Can't believe how many people are flapping on the social media regarding this...

He's in there purely as a back up for the back up

IF State Man weren't ready in time for the race for whatever reason, and Impaire had some sort of niggle, then Willie won't want to be letting a grade 1 go by without his name on the trophy, simple as that.

I thought the same but wondered what kind of debate the subject would command of it did make parliament.
Until now no-one within government has considered punters and the complete silence of the sports governing body throughout the process shows a total lack of interest.
            Let’s see…

Have people forgotten how many entries Mullins gives his horses at Cheltenham ?
Vroum Vroum Mag famously carried eight entries the weekend before racing…

I don't think so Ista. People just like to create a bit of drama to spice up the markets. Always works.

The internet might explode when Gaelic Warrior gets a Leop Christmas Hurdle entry….

I doubt it would make much difference, sadly, and I say that despite being one of the people who helped to set up the Petitions system back in 2010.

At best it triggers a semi-automatic debate (as long as an MP picks up the topic) in the Commons, and a Minister has to stand at the despatch box and explain what government policy actually is on this. Of course, all that will happen is that they will spout the same nonsense they’ve been spouting to date - that only 3% of punters will be affected, which is obviously laughable.

At least it will allow each of us to lobby our MPs to actually speak in the debate on our behalf and challenge the Minister in the debate. For what it’s worth I’ve already been in touch with my local MP and asked to meet him at a constituency surgery to explain why this is such a bad idea. Each of us really should do the same - it’s easy for MPs to ignore letters, harder when you’re in the room debating it.

I can’t believe the BHA has taken this long to realise what a disaster this is going to be for British racing. Well, actually I can…

If anyone wants any advice on how to write a letter, feel free to ask. For my sins I used to do this for a living. Please don’t just rely on signing a template letter, or entering your details on a website that generates a standard letter - they go straight in the bin, or at best get a template reply. Write it personally, use your own arguments, and above all go and see them in person.

                        Re King of Ryhope thread

Having my character abused I felt the need to respond.

I have had 3 winners as an owner many years ago and unfortunately only on one occasion was I lucky enough to be at the course to experience it.
That occasion was one of the best days of my life.
There is no way I would ever want to attempt to ruin that experience for anyone.
If,by my response to Spectre, went anywhere near doing that to any of the owners, and supporters on here, I really do sincerely apologise.

I wish all connected with The King Of Ryhope every success and enjoyment.
No offence taken at all CaT. We didn't agree and we move on.
Luck is a dividend of sweat. The more I sweat, the luckier I get.

                          Appreciate that Spectre.
                          All the best.

Good info in there Mighty so thanks.
I did however already contact my MP, as advised to do so by whatever group was lobbying at the time, and a lengthy pre-scripted response arrived immediately about the perils of gambling addiction and how irresponsible it would be for any government to ignore it.
Then, a friend of mine who lives in another area followed suit and received exactly the same pre-scripted response from their MP !
The only MPs that will care are those in racecourse constituencies, and if they're honest with themselves they will be far more concerned with their own political future over the next 12 months.
                            It's a total shambles...

                              • My MP Clive Betts replied himself, he might have cut and pasted some bits but we all do that from time to time.
I responded to his first reply and he replied again on a much more personal level.
Probably a waste of time but you never know if you get a point across that they'd not considered, and it filters through over time.
