    • All losers for me with Good land. First of many no doubt.

Yep had a few mins with 365 so got rid of anything I could, took the chance that the tweet was accurate. Had him in more bets than I thought!

        • Crap. I'm 7/8 pts down in the Turner's already with Good Lane, IEP and Irish point.

I think what he means is "crap, I'll have to have him trying for the first half of the season"

I agree with both of you - and there's definitely an angle that it means he can't run the horse questionably like he's also done with cap du Nord - but there's a fair argument a horse who wins/comes close in those races should be able to get in off a mark they can win off - in kitty's case I reckon that's around 142 which won't happen this year. Otherwise it just becomes a handicap for those just short of G1 standard as Archie suggested

How about a selection of win and you're in races spread throughout the year? When I thought of this before, I think I had 10 races that could fit the bill although struggling to remember them all now but here goes...
Previous year's Scottish + Irish national
                Hennessy
                Welsh National
                Eider
                Classic chase
GN trial + have one in Ireland?
                Becher

Maybe there were only ever 8, but I think it would help to raise the standard of those events

Yeah I like that - a lot like they're doing with the Ebor/Breeders Cup, makes a lot of sense. I'd also suggest for right or wrong that the horse can run off the mark it wins those races off plus a penalty (potentially with minimum weight 10-0 so they may end up overweight with respect to that, but keeps them in the handicap)

I am in the same position and on the same three horses and what is really annoying is that I told myself in April to stay away from the Turners and Ballymore until January 2024 because they are such unreliable races for Antepost betting. I knew it and I still couldn't resist. Will I ever learn !

Completely agree. A standard 7lb penalty or something of the like for the races later in the year. There's so much that could be done to improve the programme, but I'm not convinced those at the top have the imagination or desire to really do it

In the US, BetMGM is a 50-50 joint venture owned by MGM Resorts and Entain. However, Entain is not involved in the BetMGM UK launch.

This means that BetMGM UK will be directly competing with Entain’s UK brands. Entain owns some of the UK’s leading gaming brands, including Ladbrokes, Gala and Coral, as well as leading European names such as Bwin and Eurobet.
Opened an account with Bet MGM and within a week, I’ve been restricted.

I secured a ?5 FREE bet today and they’d only let me use 65p of it on a 12/1 shot!

                        Another joke of a bookmaker.

(for context, I’ve placed small stakes on football and horses, marginally up, but not much)

Wouldn't it be nice if the government looked into these bookies restricting and banning people for having the audacity not to lose instead of these ridiculous affordability checks, pathetic !

I don't know whether to laugh or cry, this is a US bookmaker that presumably will be operating to US policy, must have recruited entire UK industry staff that are used to rolling out restriction at will.
                            Just sad...

From following the sportsbook subreddit on reddit, they seem to employ the same procedure of banning winners over there than here

                              • Nothing race or horse related - only a random message to say...as the cold nights draw in and the ground gets softer - it's time for the season we all love to begin properly. Just wanted to say thanks to all on here and show gratitude to the FJ forum generally. I am excited for the next roller coaster of a season and to watch all of the debate and (immense) shouts unfold in this forum. This site is often the first and last thing I check either side of going to sleep - make of that what you will!

Given I have a 5 month old and a 3 year old, my ability to properly get stuck in and comment a lot is limited for now. I don't have a diary this year as just know wouldn't keep it updated properly - but love following everyone's on here and taking inspiration from all the posts.

Hopefully catch some of you round tracks this season, and also at the fez itself. Cheers again. Be seeing you. Knock.
