Must admit to feeling a bit of a fraud for asking this; but can anyone advise whether a horse that has won over fences but not over hurdles in a previous season, is eligible for a novice hurdle campaign this year?
My review of the BHA rules of racing is that they are, but any additional advice/thoughts would be gratefully received.
iii) for a Hurdle Race, means a horse that has not won a hurdle race (other than junior national hunt hurdle races) run under the rules of a Recognised Racing Authority before the current Jump Season, except that a horse that has won one or more such hurdle races between 1 March and the end of the previous Jump Season will be a Novice until 30 November of the current Jump Season;

Pipe had a horse who won a few decent chases (runner up in a Welsh National too rings a bell) then went novice hurdling at 9/10 years of age, seem to remember backing him in the Potato race, needed hock deep ground...
