  • IMO willmount just doesen’t look quick enough or even have a high enough cruising speed to be competitive in a supreme. Looks to me like an Albert Bartlett would suit him as he looks very one paced to me. In both his bumpers to date I don’t think he quickens away from the others and more that he stayed on very well. 66/1 for the AB interests me, yet to take it yet.

Maybe. Breeding suggests otherwise and Nicky just doesn't do Albert.

Santini & Birchdale I thought of without even looking into it

Not sure how I forgot about Bob's Worth, either

            • Yeah, all right. He's had two or three runners. Let's just say he's not particularly keen on the race . A little like his love for the NHC. Don't think for one minute Willmount has been sent to him to be aimed at the Albert.........IMO

              • Plus no FJ has ever picked an AP winner of the Albert so it's pointless even discussing that race

I'm unsure on where Willmount will end up but I'd say the main reason to move to Nicky Henderson is to win races, rather than a specific race. If a horse needs the AB trip then it won't win the Supreme and vice versa. The trainer can't mould a horse to win a Supreme if its a slow old boat.

                      Agreed and he's not slow.

Looking at that lot I can see why he should hate the race if he already doesn't......what a desperate bunch of rags !!

                        • For what it's worth, I had a look at Henderson's Albert Bartlett trends here.

He doesn't have a great record in the race. But he does tend to show he is aiming horses at it early with race placement so worth watching entries.

                          • Thanks for that TGB. Forgot that you did stats on Henderson's. Very informative. Easy to put a line through his in the race then.

                            • I'd say it's just another example of why it's folly to do a novices yankee before the October stable tours.

Cheers Lobos. Personally on Henderson novice hurdlers I would broadly:

                                - Back his number one Supreme horse before debut if stable tours, race placement and profile had given me enough clues.

                                - Only back an Albert Bartlett horse after 1-2 runs if it looked particularly strong contender and not before.

                                - Not back potential Ballymore horses antepost because that's where he tends to send his lower quality horses unless he has more than one runner for the Supreme or Albert Bartlett with the same connections (like Champ).
