  • Barry Connell interview with Racing TV and asked about Marine Nationale:

“He’s in a field eating grass. He just eats and sleeps - he’s bombproof. If we want to go chasing it’s no problem as he’s a super jumper but we’ll wait and see. I’d say there’s every chance we could go chasing.
When asked about the Champion Hurdle: “If you thought you were going to win the Champion Hurdle, you’d go for the Champion Hurdle. There’s a certain Constitution Hill in England and before they go chasing they’ll have to be convinced that he’ll stay 3m2f over fences. How are they convince themselves of that?”

    • I love it . Amazing what chaos one horse can make. Even the other trainers are puzzled. A massive guessing game. I bet Nicky is chuckling away supping on his Rioja.

As big as he's ever been pretty much

We really don't know that do we?

If he does go chasing and does win his Novice Chases with ease and hoses up in the Game Spirit like Sprinter and Altior did then they may well go CC. Lots of 'ifs' but it's possible. Sprinter and Altior went Arkle but both of them were clearly going CC the following season. The difference here is CH will be going GC in 2025.

Nicky was very pessimistic about going that way IF they went chasing at his open day, almost closed the idea straight off.

Not long to find out he stays hurdling I'd say anyway... IMO..

2 months at least. Of course he'd close it off. Why stick extra pressure on everyone before he's even jumped one. All guess work from everyone but fun nonetheless.

                      Via @HarryFryRacing1, LOVE ENVOI

suffered a "left fore condylar stress fracture" at Punchestown.

Prognosis for full recovery is good and she is back with Noel Fehily.

All being well, a bid to go one better in the Mares Hurdle is surely the aim.

                      Harry Fry website

"As a postscript to the 2022/23 National Hunt season Love Envoi suffered a left fore condylar stress fracture which explained her under par run at Punchestown. She is rehabilitating with Noel Fehily, and prognosis for a full recovery is good
                      ."

                      • Shame. Explains her poor Punch run which clearly was miles below her best. Hopefully she'll be back .

Reading a case study of a 2yo with similar fracture (appears to be common injury) was a 5 month timeline from injury point to back on the race track. Usually involves surgery pins/plates.

It’s hard to know in Love Envoi case without more specific details of the injury
