Hello Fat Jockeys,

Upgrading the Fat Jockey forum!: https://www.crowdfunder.co.uk/p/fatjockeyforum

We're looking to upgrade the 'hosting CPU' so I've set up a crowdfunding project.

I would love it if you could donate using the link below to access my project page. Any contribution large or small will be hugely appreciated. Thank you.

Genuinely free bets are thin on the ground, usually a generous ?1 from Ladbrokes! There are still quite a few who offer so-called free bets if you bet a certain amount. If I was the regulator I would tell the bookies to stop using this inaccurate phrase - something like 'bet credits' would be more accurate. Even that doesn't make it clear to newer punters that the 'free' bet is different from a cash bet, as you don't get your stake included in your winnings. With most bookies there is also an expiry date on use of the 'free bet', which is clearly an incentive to gamble more than you might do normally.

Another iffy practice is the promotion of free spins on slots. This happens a lot even though I have never wagered a penny on this rubbish. I'm happy enough to use these offers over my morning cuppa. A zero return is no loss and small returns can add up over time - "mony a mickle makes a muckle" * as we say north of the border. A princely ?3.47 from Hills today . Obviously the strategy is to draw in punters to these daft games. If I was the regulator I would tell the bookies to stop doing this.

    * Apparently there is a debate about whether or not this is a corruption of the original adage.
I had an email off hills earlier saying that after a review of my account i would no longer be eligible for their gaming offers or promotions, I've only ever used the 5 free spins they give you and never wagered my own cash so not a big deal, maybe they've realised they can't entice me onto the slots and have now given up trying !

Interesting! There was actually one time I was pissed and spent a quid by mistake so maybe they think I am still a customer who can be reeled in

I've just started doing these and already done this same thing. Once the 5 free (10p) spins end and you're straight into ?1 real spins. Easy mistake when you're not concentrating!

I seem to usually get 5 free spins from the 'daily bonus drop' and then every couple of days seems to be another 5 free spins on the main page. Going to try to do it every day this week and see how long I keep getting the offer for...

                  Yeah

Theyre naff all to do with Sports Betting.

Appear to have turned Sports betting into an entry gateway into casino gambling

From the outside looking in, it could appear to resemble - using an alcopop to snare folk, hope they turn into an alkie and then into a shaker, then end up leaving them in the gutter, potless cos youve unexpectedly rinsed all their money away

Im sure they dont mean to do it that way, and theyre all marvelous firms really.

                  • Completely agree re the separation of casino and sports betting but just to add some context to that, how many more people would see account restrictions/terminations if bookies thought there was no way of recovering some of their sports losses from crack wheels/spins ?

Its a lost world since big players got hold of bookies.

Everything I’ve seen is that he’s not for sale at any price and will stay in France.

                              • Video below was posted on Twitter of Constitution Hills P2P run and only defeat to date, footage I hadn't seen before myself and I'm sure others haven't either, sharing here as I'm sure it's of interest. Looked a decent jumper of a fence, albeit the fences look on the small side. That final fence blunder cost him. Enjoy
