God forbid the forum discussed the marks shared here before the embargo.. when in reality all the whales are loaded to the gills already.

You can bet your life that bookmakers would have these marks well before anyone else.
There are reasons why every yard in the country is sponsored by bookmakers.
The only ones who are exposed are us punters, and it's been a while since our interests have been considered...

100% they did. Everyone is in the pocket of the bookies. They'd be stuffed without punters though.

        • Random - Do horses lose hurdle ratings at all? Could’ve sworn Faniond'Estruval had a hurdles mark from French form way back when.

Think connections should exploit a hurdles handicap at some point, the way he jumps

No they don't, if they asked for a mark or entered a hurdle race they would provide him one.
Although the UK handicapper will factor in his chase rating when assessing. This does not mean it will replicate it, just that they will have it in mind.
The Irish handicapper would have a completely separate rating for both disciplines.

This weeks Road to Cheltenham has a lot of useful information for those that need or want to understand the handicap system more.
And why the weight announcements should not carry too many surprises.

The "Embargo" even got a mention, and well done for Kevin Blake for calling it out (owning up to having got the info). It was clearly sent out to a select few, and shared.

Most of it I was au fait with but the news that they rate every Irish race and just don't publish them, was not so much a surprise it just makes the decision of Elliot to keep entering horses stupid and pointless.
I'd assumed him emailing to ask, rather than entering, would incur a bit of work for the handicapper if he did it in bulk, but if they have a mark already this would appear not to be the case and he is just wasting owners money.
I also imagine that anyone could email and ask the handicapper also !
Just listening to this now (haven't checked out Blakes blog or whatever) but fair Fucks to Ruby calling this out for what it is! Blakes honesty though might get him in trouble, so suppose fair fucks to him too!

Traffic is horrendous but there is usually a fair few parking areas around for ?10, although it's a longer walk to the course obviously. Simple enough to get in though, follow the right coloured signs and you'll end up where you need to be, pretty well managed IMO.

                              Head for New Barn Lane.
There's a newsagents about 200 yards from the entrance to the course car park, pretty much next to the newsagent is a driveway (fella will be outside taking your cash) which leads to a huge back garden and accommodates about 50 cars, he might be ?15, and if it's dry there's an entrance at the bottom of his garden to the pathway that leads to the course.
                              But yes, get there early...
