Just be careful with these stable tours, there are so many these days that info given on one can differ on another.
It’s been said many times before but Mullins, in particular, won’t make firm decisions on targets on many of his until a week before racing…
Hey guys! In today's video I explain how bookies profile customers in order to maximise profit for bookies. The video goes through:1) Key stats about ho...
This aussie fella knows his stuff, ignore the dollars side of things as it's all relevant, he worked at B365.
A lot of it has been discussed but he breaks it down really well for anyone interested.
I've actually got accounts in all 4 bucket categories
Seven Barrows master Nicky Henderson joins Sky Sports Racing with an update on Cheltenham Festival targets and preparations for his stable stars Constitution...
Henderson warbling about his horses, (great view up his nose)
Handicaps. I know a fair few here, and after last year, said they would wait until either the day of the race, or at the very least, the week of the Festival.
Are you all sticking to that, or being dragged in for whatever value you find in the Boodles/The Plate/The Ultima never mind the Martin Pipe or the Kim Muir. I see a lot of the schoolboy looking podcasters now throwing around handicap 'good things' as if their portfolios demanded it.

I’ve not got a penny on them as yet, I’d usually have a couple backed in most of them by now
Leaving it until the week this year. Did think I might back an Elliott/Pertemps or Mullins/Martin Pipe horse as an exception, but the bookies seem wiser to it this year.

1pt on Path D'Oroux in the County is my only handicap bet. NRNB too. I am genuinely so proud of myself

Only one for me, and it's the winner of the Martin Pipe anyway so that basically doesn't matter 1pt NRNB and 1pt antepost... I'll make an exception for the race planning selection on the Boodles, got very little temptation to have anything on any of the others to be honest, even though some great cases have been made. I can see me caving on the Ultima as it's the most gettable of the handicaps IMO, followed by the Martin Pipe which I think got significantly harder because of the 4 runs thing. The others are just a minefield...

Aye I’ve managed to stick to my guns so far I’m not backing any.
Just compiling a list of potentials and then hope they are entered where I see them and back them accordingly.
I know there’s NRNB but it’s just the waste of time of tying the funds up when really prices generally wouldn’t change too much imo.

I said I was waiting to the day, and I am on the whole. I have, however, taken 3 prices on Lord Accord 33/1, Andy Dufresne 25/1 and Captain Conby 33/1 (Ultima/GA/PNF).
I just think the same as the graded races, if you're very confident or know it's the horses target and the price is right, why not.
In previous years I have backed 3/4 in the handicaps antepost and not had a single winner, I usually lose half my stake before anything has even ran.
Long way around of saying it, I wouldn't put anyone off backing one very strong fancy in a handicap antepost if its priced 25s or more (value).
I think discipline is always a good thing.
Avoiding antepost bets on most handicap races is probably a smart decision except in the minority of cases.
But it's usually healthier to participate with reason and thought than to abstain completely.
Otherwise you may miss out on good opportunities.
And NRNB is a valuable concession.
If you don't know, aren't able and/or don't have the mindset or time to identify the right type of horses now - then you're probably going to be no wiser after declarations. IMO.
So your chances of success are probably the same.
You'll either find a winner or not.

Loads for me (and lots more still to play) but I've never been any different once NRNB kicks in.
I'd rather be on at the right price now than once entries are out as its going to be refunded worst case anyway, I don't see the risk as being very high.
I think with entries here there and everywhere before the festival we no longer have to worry about ratings of a lot of horses as we know a lot already, and I generally keep notes on the Irish ones entered over in the UK too.
Unfortunately with the likes of YouTube being so popular it means in most cases that prices and any sort of value is gone before we even get to the week, IMO. Don't get wrong you can still hit a decent priced winner or two, as not every horse with a favourites chance goes on to win the races, but the bookies are proper tight anyway at the moment that I feel the need to get on early.
I think Many Clouds had a really interesting way of playing the handicaps which he posted about in the diary section of the forum, and whilst I may not give it a go with cash this year it is something I'm going to do on paper to see how it turns out.
