  • What does drive me mad is some of the podcast host blatant after timing, they wouldn’t last a day on here

Only Fools Love Horses show I had to cut it off after your man said a few times what he backed a horse at.

Memo to podcast creators - no one gives a flipping f what price your on a horse at all so cut it out. It’s not a longest dick contest

I’ve also come around big time to Johnny Dineen, wasn’t sold on him first but I find him very funny the way he goes on, reminds me of similar folk in Ireland.

Not one you’d follow blindly but for entertainment purposes he definitely is a funny character. When he doesn’t fancy something.. or someone (PN) he really goes at it

But yea I’d agree there’s a million and one shows out there some are junk.

il watch Ruby on Road to Cheltenham, The boys on upping the ante, final furlong, some of the sporting life shows with Patrick, some of Nick Lucks daily show depending on topics and maybe Betfair one now and again + I tune in the gavin L show 3 or 4 times a week

Apart from that the rest of other podcasts all have the same tune about the same horses “he travels well, he’ll come on for his run, the price is too short, can’t seam him being beat, Mullins bingo, DRF will tell us all”

There’s 3 bad ones for every good one
      I like Jonny Dineen.
I think some of his thought processes are misguided overall (IMO) - like the "price don't matter stuff" and "don't like horses coming from behind"
both statistically flawed theories to have as a general rule, but I'm sure if you sat down with him he'd be able to flesh it out more and make a little more sense.
but his honesty and sense of humour is great to see.
A typical balls out old fashioned gambler.

Not sure why these channels annoy me so much. I must be getting more grumpy in my old age
I'm split on this. Part of me thinks 'good for them'. It's easy for us to criticise and they are the ones putting themselves out there. We probably take it too seriously.

That being said, I despise 95% of them and and know exactly why

People offering up fairly obvious cases as well thought out is some proper cringeworthy shit. Like they've found water on Mars.

It's also painful seeing someone reach a conclusion in 5 minutes that we made on here in October. Not their fault, but not a high standard.

I don't like regurgitated information sold as new. Joshua Stacey will say 'I've spoken to someone at the Elliot yard' 5 mins after someone else has tweeted news. Annoying

I want cases made to me by someone middle aged, with a grey beard, sat at an expensive mahogany desk with a home library behind them, full of thought provoking books.

Instead, most YouTube vids are pimple faced teens filming post wank in a single blank white walled room whilst thier mum cooks dinner downstairs

His cliff horse story the other day was brilliant, laying your man about 7 or 8 times in a row haha

Aye he seams to have some golden rules he sticks to and as you say if you got time with him on your own am sure he could justify them more, going back over the last 20 years he’s betting

Could meet this criteria Charlie, I can't promise it won't be post wank though !

think the two lads are house sharing now and I presume they’ll go separate rooms for their pre-show tugg

I'm with you on JD. Really taken to him, considering the lack of stats/trends you get compared with Gavin.

I was worried it was going to go down hill but I've had more laugh with Johnny than I did the whole time Gavin was on the show.

He's very to the point. A bit like you. Whilst it does bite me in the arse sometimes because of some crap I post, I do respect that quality.

I'd be bashing plenty of folk on the daily if I was
Mod's might have to put a blue tick on racing personas on here, it'd pay for some new badges if nothing else

I'll not criticise anyone for doing something they enjoy but the state of some of the pods/content emerging irrespective of age is something I don't get one bit. They are all very similar with lots having either not enough betting knowledge or racing experience to be advising publicly IMO. Each to their own but it's done to death and no doubt about it plenty plagiarise off of here.

                      • These young lads doing these podcasts, many of which are perfectly watchable, may well get more younger people into racing

Can only be good for the sport in the long run

                        You're all being very miserable

Every possible aspect of Cheltenham is discussed in extreme depth on here, of course everything mentioned on any oodcast will have been mentioned by us sad sacks

i swear even might i for the stayers was mentioned on here lol

                        • Loads of content but 90% of it is the same

would love someone to provide a different angle, RPR, proper trend analysis, actual reviewing the pace of a race, how they jump. Even someone just going through in more detail on how last years races went, again… pace angle etc

ends up being left to forum like this

                          • Yes, the podcasts are all very similar. I think it does though introduce racing to a younger demographic so that can't be bad. I'd only be surprised if they were not lurking around here though.

The Scottish guy, Mark Mackay, brings a refreshingly cynical and realistic approach which is good to watch. He's probably the best of them all.

                            • I have energumene as last leg of a roll overs (ante post) if the Clarence House is iced out would they void the bet in this circumstance or will the bookies Utilise the ante post t&cs.

Check with your bookie as it depends whether the Clarence House is declared 'abandoned' or not.
If the race is rescheduled for Cheltenham my understanding is that as the date and venue (and therefore the conditions of the race) will have changed that leg will be void, so you'll get paid on the acca of previous selections.
                                But worth a call...
