I dont care about the money cos what i bet is what I set aside for this hobby.
But the unrelenting nature of feeling of like you don't know anything is pretty grating.
Also makes me doubt if I should be putting Cheltenham bets down when my radar is so off!

Been on a similar bad run. Hard to get winners, lots of seconds and the ones I back e/w are being just run out of places. Worse again, I had a banging hangover New Year’s Day after a wedding NYE, kids were with their granny, sat on the couch watching the racing. Lovely. Had Marie’s rock and first street backed in the reelkeel. Delighted with Maries rock run, forgetting the fear and hangover for a bit. go to check the account and the winnings, nothing there. Check history nothing there. Wtf. Not backed it, still not sure how that happened. specifically remember hitting the place bet button. Went on a similar bad run last year, ended with me screaming a 10/1 shot on at gowran convinced the bad run had ended. Hadn’t backed that one either.
think the big freeze has really f*cked things up, usually do ok with the December Cheltenham meeting and The long walk meeting at Ascot. Lots of earlier season form lines come together and usually get a bit of a buffer going into the mad Christmas period. Not happened, so scrambling a bit.Last edited by Dilinja; 7 January 2023, 11:30 PM.

Yesterday placed my first football acca in god knows how long, Newport ended up letting me down it just confirmed why I stopped them in the first place
My Cheltenham fund this year is a lot lower than the previous 2/3 years with having the wee man. Family comes first and it’s just how we adjust to keep the hobby ticking along. Will still be going the first 2 days in March for the buzz!

Had my weird better spell last year from mid Jan leading right into Cheltenham week. Spoilt Cheltenham really as I questioned everything decision and my approach
decided to stick to the big events (Boxing Day, NY day at Cheltenham, DRF) and pretty much ignore everything else.
some racing weekends are more difficult than others, it pays sometimes just to step back on those weekends and attack the ones where you naturally feels more confident
Definitely worth taking a break through, found it helps a lot

Took a look last night on what I had placed in total on the Fez AP betting last season. Surprised that it was over double to what I've placed currently for this season. Not planned it that way. Just think that maybe it's just been that much harder to predict where these Novices are going to end up and I've obviously held back a fair bit. Not that it's a bad thing. Will hold on mainly now until after the DRF. I'll take a look then and see where I'm at and if I can plug a few holes if the prices are right.
