Knew it was coming but seems a bit early in the season. Any comments on what he's doing now? assisting Gordon?

      • One of the best. And a classy way out I guess.

But still thought he could've waited until the festivals

        Happy retirement though hopefully!

One of the best around. Landed me a Cheltenham treble and memories I'll never forget. He'll have a huge future off the course for sure.

          • Brilliant jockey. And the room came alive when he turned up for the Cheltenham football ground preview night this year so something in the media could beckon.

100%. He's likeable, charismatic and knowledgeable. He'll get decent offers that are well deserved. Wouldn't even be surprised if he has something lined up.

                    • Didn't he ride winners at something insane like 14 consecutive festivals? Unreal

Pigs in blankets or another grade 1

                        Don't blame him at all

                        • Davy Russell - how we'll miss him.

Any race where Davy had a ride was worth watching just for the privilege of seeing an absolute maestro at work.

He was nearly always in the right place and made it all look ridiculously easy.

And if Davy was on board your horse at the Cheltenham Festival you wouldn't swop him for anyone.

Great he's got out in one piece and can enjoy more time with his young family.

Davy is truly a legend of the sport.

this is what it's come to now, sleeping in shipping containers. Find it highly amusing that it's labelled a cheap alternative at a grand haha.

                              • I love the festival, but the cost to attend the event is just way too much
On top of that, the effort required... na, been there, done that, got the losing betting slips. Rather stay at home, great view, access to the fridge and toilets, and more importantly, in a better position to pick out winners
