Honestly I couldn't watch it either, but doesn't seem to be any gold dust news reported.

          • Gambles on days like these aren't uncommon.
But Emmett's 2 runners in the final 2 races at Cork have gone short enough.

                  • First time I've noticed it, but the RPR's given this season have been subject to change, just for some examples:

Irish Point was given 118 now upped to 121 (it changed after his Royal Bond run I think)
Facile Vega was initially given 122 now 129
Jet Powered was 123 (I think) now 129
Hiddenvalley Lake was definitely not 125, I'm pretty sure it was like 119, looks to have been changed recently.

I can guarantee there are more. Seems like they don't like being wrong so adjust so they look better. I wish they'd have a note to say why they were amended though.

I like RPR's but clearly an issue if they are amending after the event, complete after timing figures.

Just mentioned this in a post on novice hurdle thread.

It's almost like they want them to look better.

                      Who'd have thought that ? -

used it three times as it looks new

Cheers for highlighting. Seems like lazy ratings. Not a good look.

Haha, I read your post literally straight after I had posted this.

It's not a great look, is it! Something I will be trying to bear in mind going forward.

                          • Good points Quevega and ComplyOrDie It's definitely annoying - not least because it means having to make new notes... I think some of us spotted them unhelpfully upgrading The Nice Guy's debut last season so they have form for doing this but I'd not noticed it to this extent.

I've not noticed them downgrading RPRs yet and I tend to be particularly interested in horses reaching certain levels. So maybe a good point to be careful more with assuming horses have underwhelmed.

FV and JP both still low debuts by standard of recent Supreme performers - it would be interesting if they upgrade again later in the season...!

Gaelic Warrior's debut rating is worth monitoring for one that may be downgraded.
Definitely depends on his next run though.

They'd get more respect from me if they applied some sort of system to show that some ratings are subject to revision.

Time form use the p & P system for a reason, specifically useful in relation to horses going up the grades.

Unfortunately though, they are a business and this needs remembering.
They will want as much credibility as possible so it goes both ways (good and bad), but needs to be factored in.

                              • Yeah, thought I was the only one who noticed this with RPRs just season they seem to be a lot lower than last season and it ties in with the bumper thread, the highest bumper RPR we've had so far this season is King Of Kingsfield at 122 I think, but last year I think there were multiple horses by now with an RPR higher than that in their first bumper so to be, it they just seem to be being more conservative with them with previous years
