  • King of Kingsfield traveled pretty strongly throughout that, overall a nice debut but doesn't scream Champion Bumper winner.

    • Willie will be laughing away after seeing that anyway

          • Doubt KoK's RPR will be in the mid 120's for that, improvement sure to come but if you haven't already got at 20's plus then I'd happily let him go and look elsewhere..

            • I'd say Gordon himself would be disappointed if he didn't have one or two better too. Could do with a hurdle that lad.

              • Bit harsh on KOK. Did it well in ground that wouldn't suit. Agree though that hes likely to find a few too good in March.

                • Despite my musings about the performance from KOK it may just be worth remembering that Ferny Hollow was beat not once, but twice, before winning the Bumper.

                  • Paddy Power pushing him out to a still ridiculous 10/1 on the back of a win tells me enough of what they thought of his chances.

To be fair, you’ve long made the point you don’t think soft ground suits. I thought he found a fair bit off the bridle too which isn’t and bad thing. An average performance.

Is it possible that Gordon’s aren’t as forward as usual? Could he be trying something different this year given he had a fairly poor Cheltenham ‘22?

None of his were hugely impressive. American Mike was decent and probably the best of his potential Grade 1s.

Probably in part due to the fact he’d been hyped a bit on Twitter and had a serious haircut by the bookies. Not sure we can say the ground didn’t suit as he’s only raced once before today. Also, I’d imagine he’d have rerouted him if ground was a real concern.

I’m personally not a fan of blindly backing his Down Royal entries but this starting to be too bad to be true.
6 winner's over a 2 day meeting is far from" too bad to be true "Jackie

Interesting that money for Croke Park today with Hills. Into 16/1.

Fair point but it’s always a Gordon benefit and most of those races were complete muck. What was a little concerning was some of the more fancied runners getting turned over or underperforming. You wouldn’t expect that normally.
