I had a little look at how the novice hurdle winners fared in the championship chase races in the following years. Whilst I only scanned the racing post site which went back to 2010-12 seasons, I was quite surprised to see that the only ones I could see were Altior (Supreme, Champ chase), Vautour (Supreme, Ryanair) and not the same but Cue Card won the bumper and the Ryanair. There's a few who went close and I may have missed one but I did find it interesting that there were so few of the winning novice hurdlers that went on to have wins in the big championship chases.

If you look at this year's 2nd season chasers, we are looking at Galopin, L'Homme Presse and Ferny Hollow potentially being the best novices into open company from a Cheltenham perspective and none of them won a grade 1 novice hurdle at Cheltenham (although Ferny was injured and Galopin did win a handicap easily).
We could have Constitution Hill and Sir Gerhard aimed at the Champion Hurdle and TNG is out so potentially no novice hurdle winner following up the following year in a novice chase win.

Cullentra House is home to a wealth of top talent headlined by Brighterdaysahead, Firefox, Found A Fifty, Gerri Colombe, and Teahupoo.
Gordon stable tour:
Better Days Ahead:
He’s a nice horse that won his point-to-point in great style. We’ve declared him for a bumper at Down Royal on Friday and we’re looking forward to seeing what he can do. I’d say he’ll go hurdling sooner rather than later after Friday and he’ll stay further than two miles for sure.
Croke Park:
He’s a lovely, big horse. He’s probably more of a jumps horse than a bumper horse. We’ll probably start him in a bumper to get him going and then potentially go hurdling after that, we’ll see. He should be ready to start in the next three or four weeks.

I was very surprised myself. Definitely something I'll consider going forward.
And 2 seasons later when they get to open company the more backwards late developer's are still improving and now better than them
