  • Not sure where to put this so went for general - James Stevens of the RP has been on a few stable tours, has posted a few updates on Twitter. To summarise:

    - Jane Williams yard have high expectations for Saint Segal. Goes novice chasing and likely to stay at 2m.

    - Yard's juvenile horse to follow is Jupiter Allen.

    - Galahad Quest to be aimed at Paddy Power Gold Cup at Cheltenham in November.

    - Bear Ghylls coming on well for Nicky Martin. 2m4 but could go 3m if required & likely to make debut at Newton Abbot (Oct 15) or Carlisle (Oct 20).

Thanks for the update particularly re Bear Ghylls. Was always a chaser in the making and looked very good in finishing a close fourth in the Ballymore '21, although that form is slightly questionable given what Bob Olinger, BMG and GDM have done since ... Injured last term so great to hear he's ready to go. I had thought he'd be more likely to step up in trip so maybe the injury has kept him to the shorter distance, at least initially.

The form from that seasons Cheltenham as a whole is pretty questionable isnt it?

Following on, quotes from Nicky Martin: "I’m very excited. I always try not to have too high expectations as it can go horribly wrong, but the professional jockeys who come and ride him feel as though they’re on a machine. They are all very, very impressed with him.

"He’s powerful and you can just feel that difference – if you do a steady gallop they’ll look around wondering where the rest are because they don’t realise just how well he travels.

"He’s absolutely fine now, the vets are happy with him. A lot depends on the weather but the ultimate goal is to get to Cheltenham, taking a similar route to Bravemansgame."

              Skipping Cheltenham for Aintree then?

I'm going too on Sunday but never been to one before. Out of interest, if anything interesting is said or mentioned - where should we post it on the site? Thanks.

…if you want to find a suitable place, I’ve started the 2022/23 Stable Tours thread.

bmg: King george bound- thinks has a good shot unless allaho turns up. in hindsight wishes he'd run him in turners and front run. isnt sure he'd last gold cup trip

monmiral and stage star confirmed as novice chasing

People can, of course, post anywhere they like but I think we get over-precious about the Members' Area. Fine for personal betting diaries but stable tours!!?? I tend to mark most of the section as read and move on.

Groucho Marx said, "I refuse to join any club that would have me as a member." Not a bad motto.

                          • Theory

Rising fuel prices and other costs will mean less Irish horses will be sent to the UK this jumps season by the smaller trainers to the small meetings

Meaning the ones that are sent over, especially when just one horse is sent, will be worth backing

                            Case study number 1

Battle of Benburb john Mcconell 4:05 sedgefield 9/4

Won first go at 3 mile looking like this step up to 3m3f would be appreciated

Probably some key info coming out the stable tours in the next few months and imo members should benefit from seeing this 'potentially' key info first. There's a high chance lurkers on here could be affiliated in some sort of way with bookmakers and the last thing we want is them getting critical injury/target news earlier than ideal. I have absolutely no problem clicking once extra to take me to the members section.

Take this example for instance -

"There are currently 361 users online. 46 members and 315 guests."

315 on a weekday afternoon, crazy amount really. They can always become a member, its free and very welcoming!

Just my 2 pence of course, everyone has their own opinions on this stuff.
