Gavin Lynch isn't on Upping The Ante this season, is starting his own website. No real reason to watch it for me now, depends on who they replace him with.

That's a real shame. I see it's 8 euros a week for a subscription which is fine and no doubt his in depth analysis will be excellent and value for money for some ... but I'll really miss his on screen chemistry with DJ. Really used to look forward to UTA for a midweek pick me up in the dark months, for the chat as much as the analysis.
Also a bit strange that his offerings don't kick off until the week after Down Royal where some strong Elliot pointers can be found.Last edited by Exar Essay; 4 August 2022, 11:05 AM.

I’d be very surprised if we saw UTA return for a new run in the lead up to Cheltenham. The main reason as stated by many on here for viewing is the chemistry between DJ and Lynch. The main segments being Gavin Lynch’s ‘The week that was’. Would be hard for anyone else to replicate those 10 minutes. Also many people (myself not included) used to fast forward to the end just to get the GL tip to try and get the price before it went. I love listening to DJ but his tips often went unbacked. I know in years gone past if either GL or DJ was unavailable then Richard Forristal was the man to step in but he sent me to sleep and reading Youtubers comments I’m not the only one to feel that way. Maybe the Racing Post have someone else lined up for a new series but it will be very hard if not impossible to replicate the chemistry and banter which helped get UTA so many viewers.

Rate Gavin Lynch very highly and concur with comments UTA won't be the same. Dont blame the man one bit though, very knowledgeable, talks alot of sense and majority of the time puts up solid tips. Why not try and make a bit of coin out of what he's good at?
One slight criticism I would have though, the tips he would put up for the weekend where always on the short side, and dont even think that was him moving markets, think he will need to rethink his angle which Im sure he probably will, suppose give him benefit of the doubt he was putting a weekend tip up on the Monday and races probably aren't even priced up yet.
real shame for UTA, was good viewing, as most mentioned good chemistry with him and DJ, was a nice countdown to the cheltenham season, and even just breaking up the week! I probably will still listen in though, so fingers crossed the racing Post still go with it.

This is most likely for Irish/Northern Irish FJs but in case anyone is interested, there are a series of trainer mornings coming up that are open to the public where they can come down to the trainer's yards and see the horses and the goings on. It's to encourage involvement in race ownership and interest in horseracing. It's free but you have to register via the link. Gordon's yard is one of the yards listed, unfortunately Willie's isn't, but there are a lot more trainers strewn across Ireland who are doing an open day, so hopefully there's a yard near you if you're interested. No idea if it's first come first served but worth registering anyway if like me, you've never been to a yard and want to check it out.
Welcome to Racehorse Ownership, providing all the information you need to become a racehorse owner in Ireland.
