This festival, just over thinking it
I'm watching ITV, and it appears evertime they cut to someone placing ?0000 bet, its flipping coming in. Wondering why I'm sending all this time studying, should just following the market
You watch, I start backing the favs and 2nd favs tomorrow, and it will be a bookies day. Tbh, Friday tend to go to the bookies so probably remain with my over complicate losing methods lol

So it's the one week of the year I'm cheering on the shorties
I find this is the week where the cream rises to the top and being on the top 3 or 4 in the betting pays
My handicap picks have been absolutely hopeless so far, the jockeys keep holding them up and they just aren't getting into the races

The only one that paid off for me was Sir Gerhard (AR), and I didnt fancy it yesterday
Shishkin would have gone me in trouble if I went hard on him like I did last year when he won the Arkle.
I probably would have gone hard on Bob
Honeysuckle, didnt have anything on, same with Altior. Again, I think I would have been busted with them by trying to play acca via Shishkin.

I remember back in the day some old hands reminding me that the handicaps at this meeting were just too competitive unless you had an angle, that angle being that you were close to the yard and were a party to what they were up to, with the warning that there would be a number of other yards who believed they too had the right plot horse.
I think with the work done by the handicapper this year, also it really has righted the ship. That's great for all of you who relish the challenge of finding one, but for this correspondent, it's all about getting value in advance on the graded races and if I'm ever back at the festival, it is when the handicaps are on when I will be heading to the bar.

Antepost is getting harder and harder with the bookies shortening everything up before they even run
Then you have Mullins bingo, Nichols who likes to pull out (extra extra safe he is), and then ground concerns on the day
The handicaps tend to be easier, but more time is needed to sort out the form, I actually ignore the handicaps as you have to weed in and out why horses have ran in certain races, whos in the race etc. Third Wind was interesting as he ran in the Warwick qualifer which only had 7 runners, so pretty much auto entry if completed, and then ran in graded race, assuming that was just a blower. They can be interesting but defo a different way of selection, graded race all about RPR, improvement, form, jumping etc. Had to switch between the two, the problem I've had this week

There are a few things I'm taking from this festival for next year but no1 is to severely limit my antepost handicap bets, followed closely by limiting the number of multiples I do.
