I love when you've got some great antepost prices and people ask you on the day for a tip in whatever race and you tell them what you've backed and they look at you in disgust when it's evens !

I also love trying to explain a book approach.

Back to your point though, a few days before Allegore De Vassy was ruled out.... a mate from work had asked me about ante post tips....I told him I sent him ADV months back on Teams (then went and found it) at 25/1 and he ignored it... he was gutted.

2 days later, out she goes...and it hammers home how crazy we all are backing ante post

Haha - I love these tales of mates tips. My fav was in 2011. I’d been backing the Fly & Peddlers all year for the Champion Hurdle. I loved both horses & thought it was between them despite a decent field. On the train down, one of my best mates (once a year race goer) asks about the big race - I told him my view & prices I was on at. He looked at me a bit miffed & didn’t say much more. At the track I decided to have a little rev fc to add to the ante post bets. What I didn’t know was he’d gone to the Tote window & done the same. As they came to 2 out he was cheering mad with me - I assumed it was because he knew I’d win a few quid….I asked him after if he’d backed the Fly & he shows me this 35 quid reverse exacta - paid him about 600 & he bought the rest of the days drinks! Great day that was. It was the year of the great supreme with Cue Card, Spirit Son & Sprinter all being outstayed by Al Ferof. Can’t wait for this time next week now - another Supreme to match that would be great & looks possible. Be nice to meet a few on here for a beer or 2

Every year without fail, a guy I knew reasonably well up to my uni days, will text me on the Monday or Tuesday asking for tips for the week!!
Its my own fault really, the year Elliott got his first few winners - I told him that Carlito Brigante was my NAP of the week in Coral Cup and I said that Elliott is too good not to have a winner or 2 IMO. Yeah sure but I’m sure that they’d said they were no longer going to sponsor the actual Ryanair when the contract had finished in line with Gigginstown winding down their op? Maybe I’m too hopeful they’re slowly coming around to the idea of not getting out completely
