I did a tour today of all the shops in a nearby town for those machines that many in here talk about.
Betfred, Ladbrokes, Coral, Paddy Power and Jennings Bet shops all visited, none have machines where you can bet on horse racing.
The only shop I was able to see all festival prices was via an information machine in Jennings Bet.
Ladbrokes prices accessed via cashier but no handicap races quoted.
Paddy Power all prices accessed via cashier.
Coral, woman in shop looked clueless when I mentioned Cheltenham so I saved myself the pain of a conversation
Betfred had two shops in High St, in both the prices were only available via cashier
So clearly if you want to bet ante post from any of the above firms you have to fill out a slip and hand into cashier, which will obviously get phoned through.
Haven't made it to a Hills shop yet, that will come soon....

The machines in hills - the 4 nearest to me all have them and the ones in Liverpool I’ve been to do. It’s just don’t expect to get much on them

Hills you should be grand with Ista. Nightmare for me 2 years ago when Boyles took over all the shops in Northern Ireland. I done a shit load with them on their machines via willhill. Boyles took over and wasn't sure if going to pay out or not! The guy behind counter wasn't happy when I dandered in week after the fez with all these dockets! Wasn't as straight forward as paying me out, had to phone through to headquarters and go through individually each slip!
But anyway that's not the issue haha Unless Hills machines have changed you should get a bet on them no bother, but sometimes if they don't like the particular bet you are placing it will send to traders, and think someone in shop has to confirm something at there end before bet will go on.

Coral's do have the early prices / A/P price screen's ., though not in every shop ??. and then just write your slip out and bet over the counter.

Thanks BigChaang but the driver here is anonymity, several people have said in the past you can load the Hills machines with twenties and get on pretty much what you want.
Someone (can't remember who) said he was stopped from having Cheltenham bets in his local shop (not sure which shop but Paddy Power rings a bell) and that's what I'm trying to avoid...
