Novice hurdles tomorrow I think
I've assumed that's a question relating to the Cheltenham festival... Not trials day or DRF which are also being discussed. So ignore me if I've got the question wrong

Hi lads, can’t find the stupid questions thread, timeform have put Shishkin at 181+, what does the “+” mean? I understand the small p and big P but can’t seem to find anything online regarding the +. Cheers

Finally getting round to sorting festival tickets… is it worth paying the ?20 for official parking or am I likely to be queuing for hours on exit as is often the case? Am I better off finding somewhere on the day that maybe has a slight walk?

It takes ages to get out regardless of where you park really...
Just FYI, not sure if you're a member but members can park for ?30 for the entire week. Worth doing if you're planning on going for 2 days or more. My parking badge arrived today, got a little bit excited

Plenty of houses in New Barn Lane will let you park on their drive/garden for ?10/?15, always quicker exiting these than the official car parks, plus there's a path that runs from the coach park down the back straight which many of those gardens back onto so get the right house and you have a shorter walk to your car…
Some of the recent ratings of Irish horses in Britain have prompted me to start thinking about whether the British handicapper will be more severe with Irish horses at the festival this year. Tie this in with the handicapper dropping GB based horses after poor runs, could we be heading to a festival where the British horses are potentially "well handicapped" or maybe there is not so much disparity between British and Irish?
I don't really have any evidence to support this other than a feeling that Irish horses are getting an extra pound or two added on to ratings than would normally be the case. Does anyone know of a change in approach from the British handicapper?
Some I've noted recently at point of entry are:
Eskylane (145 Irish, 151 GB)
Carrarea (119 Irish, 127 GB)
Folcano (129 Irish, 135 GB)
Ardhill (111 Irish, 123 GB)

This has been happening for some years yet the Irish continue to mop up the handicaps.
If there is a new approach strategy by the UK handicapper then I’ve not seen a great deal of difference, Sire du Berlais case in point…

Emmett Mullins and John McConnell horses are generally getting pummelled this year - as is anything with a low rating (i.e. 120ish or lower). Others haven't been too bad in my view (see the Irish horses in British handicaps thread in members section if you wish to see all Irish marks over here since start of season). The bigger issue will be how 'well' handicapped UK horses will be when the British handicapper has 'levelled' things out. Unfortunately we won't know the answer to that until post-cheltenham

The solution is to start rating U.K. horses lower just as much it is to start rating Irish ones higher
