You need to be ruthless in how you handle your cash outs and books this season. Bet365 will wait for no one. I'm assessing my book daily at the moment, seeing if there is anything I need to amend. It's not ideal but feel it needs to be done.
You're right COD, we just have to adapt. Let's be honest, ante post betting at the festival has never been easier than the last 3/4 years. We've basically been able to take flyers in horses at big prices, knowing that if they disappoint we'll only lose 5% of stake by cashing out.
We can still use the exchanges to alter positions on Bob, GDC, SG and DD etc so that's pretty much the same as a cash out.

Crazy when you think about it.
When they first introduced cashout, they barely reacted to the race.
You literally could back every promising novice hurdler and just cash out until you had the top few in the betting come the Spring.
Where as now they've just become proactive. Which to be honest if I were them, i'd do exactly the same.
I've got a fair few greyed out bets with them this season, but none that i'm overly surprised about.

Yeah absolutely right.
Was a golden period .....
Has made plenty of lazy bettors though, the adapting will be hard for some, myself very much included.
Yes agreed. Back to the old days with better discipline, and best odds.
For us with a book approach the accumulation of best odds largely mitigates against Bet 365 offering a cash out that's become worthless.
I'm sure the turnover for 365 from the people on here and the lurkers is noticeable enough. It must be otherwise they wouldn't have adopted the approach they have. I'm pretty clear in my head what the best approach is moving forward, and I think when the Festival is over an done with I'll get a post/thread up on here as a point of reference for betting strategy and how to best use the bookmakers for next season.
It may even be worth doing a podcast on the subject.
Luck is a dividend of sweat. The more I sweat, the luckier I get.

I'd be interested in views about whether certain classes of races should be more targeted early. as someone who has relatively recently started the 365 approach to cheltenham I can now see a lot of target chasing bets for the novice hurdles. there is always a risk that you miss a price but I'm wondering if uts better to wait a bit for a view and then have bigger bets but maybe not in May the year before.
novice novices seems a decent division where targets are often better defined and the quality of those going more proven over hurdles.
Interesting interview on the Opening Show today with the Horseracing Bettors Forum, an organisation I have never previously heard of but could become a huge asset to me and many others in here I'm sure.
They were raising the subject of affordability checks which will effect everyone in here at some point, they have lobbied government and are in dialogue on the subject and on that basis could help the situation and ultimately, us...
