Gordon and Willie came out a few weeks ago and said the ground wasn't good enough in the past at the DRF and if it continued to be good ground and not softer, they would be pulling some of their horses out.

Ah ok, sounds like rain or some watering will help then, nothing more than that.
        Thanks Denman

        • Not much rain in Ireland this last week and not much expected for the next week, and as we all know, the forecasts aren't reliable beyond that. At this point, I'd say Leopardstown will have to water but by this next week, 9 days before the DRF, they should know where they stand.

Ah what a shame that is, incredibly tough horse.

              • I love the stat that he had never been beaten when he hit the front ... heard it in the preview pre Gold Cup and it was the final piece of the jigsaw .... so when he hit the front in the GC I loved him.

Was the year Hendo and Barry were on fire?

One of the horses that gave me the bug so badly I think.

                What a shame.

Never heard that stat before, that’s awesome!

                  • Looking forward to Trials Day next weekend, first time back at HQ since the 2020 Festival! Usually get a train down but coming via car this time, just wondered if anyone had an idea what the parking is like for trials day in terms of is it a bit of a mess to get out of at the end of the day?

Just do what we did in November & park in the staff car park opposite the main entrance! We didn’t realise where we were until we were in there, but no one said anything to us! We’ll definitely be trying that again

Trials day used to be quiet and non members used to be able to use the members car park (entrance off New Barn Lane) but this season, presumably because of last season being wiped out, has been ridiculously busy, the October meeting was busier that a normal Paddy Power meeting.
I wouldn't change your plans, just make sure you take a stack of patience with you...

That was a great stat, I remember hearing it and celebrating like he'd already won the race when he hit the front, people looking at me like i was mental !

I always like to celebrate when my horse hits the front after the last.
                                It's like having sex.
If they don't end up winning it does feel like a slap in the face.
But at least you've still had sex first.

                                I advise it for everyone.
Not after jumping the first couple of fences though as that would be premature, and no one likes that.
