I've just looked backed at that race and as soon as i saw the result i remember what i backed in the race, sorry for the aftertiming but it was central park, last of the seven runners !
I’ve been to the last 30 Dewhurst Stakes at Newmarket up until last years lockdown.
Xaar was the easiest winner of the race, in all those 30 years.
Would be a worthy choice for “X” in anyone’s A-Z list, he was an absolute star.
I have no inside knowledge on this issue but I reckon Envoi Allen could return to Gordon by the middle of next month.
When Cheveley Park removed their horses in early March, director Richard Thompson intriguingly said: “I’m not going to make a comment about long-term, but certainly in the short to medium term these horses will stay with Henry and Willie.”
After an unbeaten 11-run winning streak with Gordie the wheels have certainly come off Envoi since he moved to Henry.
Maybe it's just coincidence, who knows.
But the TV commentators noticed how much Envoi was (unusually) on his toes and not relaxed at the start before his fall at Cheltenham. And he was found to be lame after pulling up at Punchestown the following month.
Now fast forward to Elliott's interview with the Racing Post 5 days ago where he said: "I had worked very hard to source those horses, and then they were gone. Just like that. When Envoi Allen was here, there wasn't a night I didn't lie in bed thinking about him. And now that he is gone, there still isn't a night I don't lie in bed thinking about him."
And in an even more revealing (and conciliatory) passage of the interview Gordon said:: "I have never had a cross word with any of the owners who left. I still speak to them all and the gate is always open. I understand completely why they had to go."
The first time Gordon sets foot on a race track again after the ban is going to attract a shed-load of publicity.
But my guess is that once the hoo-ha dies down on the Gordon-back-at-the-races story then the way will be clear for Cheveley to send Envoi back to Cullentra - should they wish.
They could justify it on the grounds that he has served his punisgment - and it shouldn't be a life sentence.
They'd probably choose to leave it another couple of weeks after Gordon's return to the track - and then the only publicity the "Envoi back with Gordon" story attracts will be confined to the racing pages and the trade press.
All this is pure supposition but isn't supposition based on limited evidence the modus operandi of punters the world over.
Similar crossed my mind at the time, CP had to do what they needed to there and then, and as is always the case with these sorts of stories, they are viewed very differently a year later

I can’t see that happening it would be a major slap in the face to hdb who has done nothing wrong. The only scenario that could happen would be if envoi flops all season then next year they send him back to Gordon in hope he can resurrect both their careers.
