As I understand it, they were having an increasing number of 'problems', amongst which included a fairly serious assault on a policeman that was result of a number of the other 'problems', and were advised not to continue.Luck is a dividend of sweat. The more I sweat, the luckier I get.

Thanks for posting Zach. That was a good read, and whilst I don't agree with everything she says, I agree with most of it and the BHA would do well to take notice. She's summarised the issue far more concisely than the collective BHA brains have been able to do after multiple costly reviews.Luck is a dividend of sweat. The more I sweat, the luckier I get.

But im amazed at the number of people on here that give chantry house a decent chance in the gold cup, i just cant see it. I know he's a big price at 20/1, but id take ABP at the same price all day long. Personally i cant see him finishing in front of minella indo, APT, ABP or monkfish if any of them turn up

I can’t speak for anyone else but from a personal point of view, we know ABP & APT weren’t good enough last year to win. I think ABP will be regressing and there’s of course a possibility that APT will still be improving but all three are now well exposed over the trip.
Chantry house is totally unexposed over the trip however. His CV is also very good winning two Grade ones over fences as a novice, one of which being over 3 miles.
The point is we don’t know how good CH will be over that trip but he’s double the price of APT who after all was beaten in the race last year.
Its a game of opinions, that’s why we love it!

Interesting read as usual and agree with most of it, but I still can't have this angle that Energumene is Ryanair bound! He looks as exciting as any over 2miles, won at the Punchestown Festival at a canter and in a time only 1 second slower than Chacun Pour Soi in a much more strongly run race. Many seem to fancy Allaho at 2m going forward following that run v CPS, but to me he didn't seem to travel or jump particularly well when the pace picked up, but he did stay on well after the last fence. If we knew nothing about either horse then most would be saying Allaho is crying out for a step up in trip, IMO. To me it was worth a look and there was no shame in the run, but he finally found his niche with the Ryanair so should stick with it.
I think you ride CPS from the front if you could re-run the 2021 Champion Chase, so he has to go back for another go. Then you have Energumene who would have been there as well but for injury. I don't personally see any reason why either would be subbed for Allaho on the evidence so far. But then he's only had one go and we're in August, so I will endeavour to keep an open mind!
Very much with you on Monkfish though! Although my answer is a bit of a boring one in Minella Indo. I think he can double up and if it's an even stronger pace next time round, it'll suit.Last edited by Atlantic Viking; 25 August 2021, 03:39 PM.

i would just really love to see him over that mid trip because as much as I love Energumene I just think he’s stumped against a superstar in Shishkin. It’s hard to comment on it when he hasn’t been run over the mid range trip, for now, in August it looks likely the CC is the destination but I just hope they up him really.
On Minella Indo, I have this theory about the Gold Cup that it bottoms horses out so I never back previous winners. Served me well until ABP came along. I think if Minella Indo was given an ABP style prep I would fancy him more but I just can’t see that happening

A Grade 1 win and a Gold Cup second, at 7yo, is a pretty special start at 3M+"Journeys to Glory, breathing in his head".
