  • You dinosaurs want to have a look at how cash carries germs

Having been at the festival and won into the 4 figure amounts 'live', having that in cash would give me anxiety in my pocket.
Tucked up safely in an online account is no less of a buzz!

When Samcro won the Ballymore I can assure you, checking the balance on my phone then was not disappointing.

    Feckin' cash. It's 2020.

probably a sign of things to come...
Same here MB, was watching it in a bar at uni and needed him for 4 figures (quite a few beer tokens at student prices), everyone was telling me how he wouldn't win it as he wouldn't stay the trip. Seeing him on the bridle at the bottom of the hill I was screaming the bar roof down, then as you say he found nothing, and my mate was all over Native River, took a while to get over that one.

On the flip side, not been betting for as many years as many of you gents, last years Marsh was the best I have (and sadly I wasn't on course). I'd backed Samcro in a double with Envoi at good prices (as had many on here) and therefore needed him for my best ever return off 1 bet. I thought I was in with a very good chance, then they went past him, then he fought back and hit the line close, I fell to the floor thinking I'd lost it and then my mate told me to look at the replay. I couldn't watch when waiting for them to call the photo, as soon as they did I just screamed. What a rollercoaster that 5 minutes was.

All would've been surpassed if he who shall not be named hadn't fallen at the last in the Martin Pipe.

My MIL lives in Cheltenham so it's always great to combine the trip with a visit. I went up Monday night as I got comp tickets for Tuesday and brought my wife along for Wednesday in 2018. I gave her a tenner a race allowance, and she decided she was going back all the female jockeys. We get to the bumper and she tell me her pick. Seeing it was 28/1 on the boards I remember reading something on Gaultstats that on an outsider before the off you could get a wild price on the exchanges. So I look it up and sure enough, there's 38s about her selection.......Relegate.

Her face on the turn only surpassed by how much mine curdled when having paid for the entire day I now realised I was gonna have to hand over ?400 to my wife
Is it wrong that I'd have been showing her the SP and just paying out on that

              Definitely liable to NAG TAX.
              Basic household economics.

Especially of she leaves skin on potatoes when mashing.

              • Only do my betting online now or when we go racing. But I never get the buzz from looking online to see what’s been put in my account. The days of the bookie counting it out in front of me and thinking when’s he gunna stop was a real buzz.

Still can't get over Israel Champ beating me in the bumper that day though!
Been very lucky that through work I've had some great jollies. In the sponsors box on the Tuesday in 2016 as they were a client, got to meet Henderson in the box and Mullins at the presentation when Annie Power won the Churdle.

Best was getting free tickets, taking my team and discovering we were in the Chez Roux restaurant. ?800 a ticket.. Drank my own body weight in champagne. Watched Defi win the Marsh stood about 4 metres away from Rod Stewart. Wonder if he had ?20 on him too?

Yeah there was some great guests in it on the Wednesday of the festival this year - I sat drooling over Laura Woods (sky sports and talksport all day!) .. Ally McCoist a great laugh, Tony Cottee in and out doing bets, different world! Dan Skelton was in each day giving his tips, terrible! Probably the best 30 seconds of my 'racing life' seeing Envoi come to the last like that in the Ballymore from the view we had, ridiculous .. just shows how bookies treat losing punters!
