Where's this being reported? Was always on the cards with the recent sad loss of David Thompson, but they've had so much success with it. It'd be a massive blow for NH racing, they've added so much to it in recent times.

I haven’t seen it in the media but Chapman reported this on the Morning Line yesterday.
Obviously will be a huge shame and something of a surprise given their commitment to this code has only been relatively short term...

It’s probably been asked before, but seeing as the 2021 festival has just ended it seems about the right time to ask
A lot of people have added horses to win a race this year with a race at next year's festival, eg Monkfish in the brown novice and in 2022 gold cup. I just add as soon as i see something i like and think i know the target or use win any race if you are unsure of target.

        • David Thompson son was on the Luck on Sunday this morning, and basically said that his dad enjoyed NH, so that’s why they bought the current crop. Said they would just enjoy the current horses they have for next few years.l, without buying more. But he did go on to say that’s he’s been bit by the Cheltenham bug, so I would not say it’s definitely written in stone that they are out of the game long term.

Think that was correct, but anyone correct me if I was wrong.

          • decent breakdown in an easy format. Folk can access RUK website too if they wanted to delve deeper/compare horses in certain races.

            • Not sure if anyone's still awake or interested but looks like serious gamble going on 4 runners trained by DJ Jeffrey's 1.00 Sth,2.03 Sth,3.40 Kel,4.20 Plu. Hammered everywhere but Hills seem slowest to react, still 97/1 for the four. Most firms less than 20/1 now. No form whatsoever so who knows?

Thanks for the heads up, I’ll have a few quid on. Hopefully my insomnia might earn a few pounds!

I’ve just listened to the interview and there were two big takeaways for me

                  1) They put their horses in Ireland because of prize money and Cheltenham Success.

                  2) He did seem to stress that they would just enjoy their current squad for the next 3-4 years. I suppose the hope has to be that he enjoys it so much they reinvest, but (and this the first time I’ve heard him speak on it) I got the impression he is all about business and there isn’t money go be made in NH. If he’s had the Cheltenham buzz for years he’s clearly happy just watching

Anyone got any strong views on what Rachel Blackmore will ride in the National? Minella Times?
Just thinking it’s the obvious bet now, will shorten massively on the day

                          Same.

Ulster GN helped yesterday, but this week looks pretty bland........

                          • Mentioned this on the summary of week page.....but i wonder what Willie's secret thoughts on Jockeys are?

He has for a long time been the top trainer and always had the best jockey....Ruby was the king of Cheltenham and still for me, one of the best i have ever seen ride......and Paul T is still definitely a very good jockey......but that is now 2 festivals in a row where there were several rides that he surely can't be happy with. Admittedly, last year, Paul had a fantastic last 2 days after a poor first 2 days....but this year, he was clearly second best all week

His two main stable rivals....and think we increasingly have to see Henry in the same big league now as Willie and Gordon......have in Jack and Rachel, prob the 2 best riding at the moment......easy to say after the last week, but i think we would have said that before too

Not sure what is options would be, even if he was tempted to change......but i often think "penny for his thoughts' in a race....or several last week
