    • A friend of mine has had his paddy power account closed today and when he asked why was told they have the right to terminate or suspend his account without further explanation, he then asked about the open bets he had with them and was told they have been cancelled and they wouldn't be giving him the stake money back. Any ideas on what to do here ? Surely that is unlawful.

I don't know much about law but that sounds very much illegal.

Get him to speak to ryanh97 who has exactly the same battle ongoing.

Not sure it's illegal, but they would have to suspect serious foul play (fraud, money laundering etc) to do this.
Complain, tell them it will be raised with the Gambling Commission and although the process is quite lengthy if he's right his bets should be re-instated and if the festival is over by then he should get paid on successful ones.
Feel free to plaster their bad name all over the internet too, they need to be called out these bookies when their behaviour is wrong...

If they have strong evidence the account is fraudulent then I'd imagine they are well within their rights

Whether they actually have any proof is another matter

            • I know a fair bit about money laundering / KYC and all that if there are any questions on that front.

As Istabraq said I'm currently in the same battle. My Paddy account was closed and then my Betfair one followed that and it was Betfair specifically who told me the same things as your friend. Awaiting a response from the Gambling Commission and also going to ask whether I need to raise a dispute against both bookmakers or if one will suffice as they are the same company.

                  Bookies are proper scumbags.

No question it is two separate disputes and you need to make sure your case is against both operating companies, when they realise they have made a huge mistake there will be some form of offer/settlement (probably free bets) so it’s in your interests you make sure you have multiple grievances raised...

                    • Had similar done to me! Do the stuff suggested above but the quickest way I found to get information on why they had closed my account was to request data access request on al information they hold on you and your account. Bet365 shit a brick when I done mine. Called me apologised reinstated all bets and gave me ?250 in free bet credits as apology. I didn’t proceed with data request and several months later noticed I’d had no promotions messaged again, told them I wanted as something strange was going on, got another ?250 in free bet credits and then told they had withdrawn from me haha! They sent me information but refused to tell me the reason for account closure as it would breach their data collection protocols hence the extra ?250 in free credits!

                      • On RTV at the moment it's a re-run of a show from April where they review the 2012 season.

Neptune Collonges and Sunnyhillboy in that GN
                        Frankel's final season
                        Black Caviar at Royal Ascot
                        Sprinter Sacre's novice chase season/Arkle!

Loads of stuff, was a great season.

                        Might be an enjoyable watch

                        • Essentially they have time limit to provide information they have on you and be very specific that you want everything relating to reason and rationale relating to account.

The negligence of the gambling commission in regulating them properly so they can't take advantage of punters is just as bad if not worse

                            • Cheers for the advice folks, will pass it on. I know he lays stuff off on the exchanges and makes money from it but that wouldn't allow them to close his account and cancel his bets with no money back, like people have said they must suspect something dodgy or are pulling a stroke.

Sometimes it can pay to think laterally, so here's a left field one in the top jockey market. I warn you it needs an imagination and lots of dots being joined though.

Willie loses Patrick as number 2, Gordon loses the Coddfather, JP loses The Doc.

                                There's no Barry or Davey.

Rachel is pretty busy with Henry.

                                Top Jocks?

Jack Kennedy. Who else? Harry Skelton will be busy for his brother. David Bass never seems to get outside spares.

Nico will be busy. Coleman, nah. Johnson perhaps, but looking past his sell by date.

It's pointless flying Irish jockeys over for very few rides soit'll be a small pool.

Therefore surely some of the UK jockeys will be snapped up for some plum rides. And maybe on Willie and Gordon horses.

Given who's available, if I were Willie and Gordon I'd be fighting over one man, who would be available for most races.

Step forward Champion Jockey Brian Hughes.

The current top jockey in the UK is available, and in the circumstances one of the two big trainers would be bonkers not to snap him up.

                                Available at 100/1 with Betfair.

We just need to nudge Willie and Gordon now, and we can have another forum gamble.
