Cheltenham weather forecast: no rain for the next 10 days plus a strong drying wind today and tomorrow.
could end up good to soft on day one after all - or maybe good to soft, soft in places.
That could throw a spanner in the works of horses who’ve excelled on soft/heavy all season.

If this turns out to be the case, and Gordon can work his magic, superb news for Samcro
Don't think it warranted its own thread so will post in here...
When is the best time to pull the trigger in a handicap?
Hold of to the day for that extra security in places, example sky may go 7 places in the big fields. Or back now when the prices are enticing?
Quevega really answered it really with depends if think price will hold. But how do we work that out, plenty factors to be taken, tipsters putting something up, connections bullish about one at a preview night, casual punters more involved now and bookies just shortening up their books as we get closer. Non exhaustive list really!
Really have to ask yourself is there value In the current price?
It was interesting findings, I know comparing 1 year isn't exactly going to be the best accuracy test in the world, but something to work with...
The Ultima was a punters delight I feel and fancied horses hit the frame.
The Top 4
15/2
10/1
11/2
11/2
I know for a fact that the prices of these 4 at one stage (may have been bigger mind you, someone else can maybe confirm?)
14/1
?
20/1
10/1
What does this show me? Was worth backing early, but all hit the first 4 home, so not all going to be that lucky!
KIM MUIR
UNPLACED HORSES
7/1 SP - Price available 20/1
5/1 SP Price available 10/1
Again these prices may have been bigger, no luck in the return but still on the lines of better value backing them before and sooner.
Guys this isn't great analysis by any stretch, and probably talking shite, but just something to maybe consider, I know everyone has thier own strategies and game plans to make the best possible outcome, but even of this makes worth while reading to one person I'd be happy enough! For my own personal use I'm going to go through each individual handicap race from last year that I backed and the SP. I think its very one sided that I was on the horses that others fancied and the price WONT HOLD UP. So defiantly taking that on board here.

Could end up Good based on that. Just check the times of the Supreme. If around 3m 50s then Good ground according to clock watchers. 4m equals Soft and 4m 10s Heavy.
Anyone ever get that free Thursday bet from betfair? Chased them up yesterday still nothing
I did in the end but only after i'd chased them up on twitter about it in a private message. Once the 72hrs had passed I got in touch with them again to say I still hadn't had it and in fairness they got back to me quick and it was credited within minutes.

Was looking forward to the weather conversations starting up...haha. I feel like I’m missing something though with talk of good to soft on day 1 based on the outlook for the next 10 days. 10 days takes up to March 5th with the Festival not starting until the 15th. Surely it will be the weather a week before the Festival and crucially the last few days which will determine the going. If anything a dry snap now could potentially increase the chance of more rain in the lead up as 30 dry days in a row would be a little unusual for this Island.

Never be officially good, water it galore wouldn’t they on the lead up even if rain was due for the Wed/Thur/Fri.

Just looked at the BBC weather forecast for Cheltenham for the next 14 days and they say it's going to be dry from now right through to Monday March 8.
I certainly don't place much trust in long range forecasts.
And as RC says, a wet week between March 9 and 16 could leave us back with a soft ground Festival.
All I'm saying is that after a very wet winter when most of the key races have been run on soft/heavy......we COULD end up with good to soft/good soft in places conditions which have been almost entirely absent all winter.
