    Yes

Worried about the affordability checks now - I use a mates account and he'll be well within his rights to just say 'no' depending on what they ask

I give him 5% of whatever I stake over the year as a 'thank-you' and hope it keeps going....

It'll be a very big decision to decide what to do next, when it gets kaboshed

    • as someone who has exhausted friends and family accounts over the years please be aware that nowadays when young folk apply for Mortgages or loans, gambling can go against their applications , was a friend told me this as he was going to use his sisters account, but she had to say no , didn't want large sums moving out her account

      • Paypal is the way round it

All the decent sites accept it as a payment method

I assume the way is to transfer from your banking app into the Paypal wallet and then deposit from the wallet?

I think if you do it direct from Paypal using your card it still shows on your bank statements as it's linked.

          • I'm in a similar position to Kev. Have the use of a friend's accounts with a few of the major bookmakers but feel I'm on borrowed time. When these go I can't think of another person I could ask. Been gambling nearly all my adult life and have exhausted family and other friends. Luckily, his accounts were well established, he'd just stopped using them and was open to me taking them over. If you were starting from scratch I can't imagine many people being ok with the initial KYC stuff, before you even get to the more invasive affordability checks to seed the accounts with funds.

My plan B is to use the exchanges. Will more or less mean the end of ante-post punting as the liquidity is so poor until much closer to the event.

            • Forget the digital world friends and fall in love with shops again, it can be a pain in the arse but once you get your head around having to leave the house it's OK, needs must....

I've been using shops along with online.

Problem with Coral for example is they have markets online but not in shop or on their terminals.

                Bloody annoying that.

Example race is Kentucky Derby, it's a market online but not in shops.

Yes. Just put your betting balance into PayPal and do everything from there.

                    Yes I've experienced that.
Equally annoying is Hills who won't take ante post bets over the counter, you are sent to a machine and more than not stakes are limited.
Be prepared for the occasional 'what sport is this', or 'we won't have prices for racing next year' from the idiot cashiers, it can be a test of patience but is generally OK....

                    • Thanks so much guys. That’s so very much appreciated!!! One more thing.. could there be a problem with tracing all these accounts coming from one phone? Should I get a spare phone just for accounts other than mine ?

Yes, they'll have information on the device used and WiFi etc.

Always best to have another phone and never connect it to the WiFi

This reads like Gene Hackman talking to Will Smith in Enemy of the State

                          • On my mobile RP site there is ref to a Navan race which produced a2025 Festival star and that this years Navan race looks likely to do the same. The article is protected so I’m not sure which race or horse they are talking about. I revisited last weeks Navan card and could not see any race winner likely to win at 26 festival. I even revisited last years Navan card and none of the winners won at the 25 festival. So I’m mystified - can anyone shed light on the puzzle?

                              • I've brought up this idea before in passing but without going into huge detail, but I want to see how much interest there would be, and also see if there are any major flaws in the plan that could be ironed out.

What would people make of a weekly "naiad" type bet throughout the flat season? It gets a little quiet on here during the summer and it would seem to me like a good idea for a bit of interest throughout the flat season. We could just call the thread "the fat jockey weekly punt".

The main premise of the idea when I brought it up before, was we take advantage of having such a large community by all punting a chosen horse off the boards, and then laying off our stakes for basically a free hit at the chance of a big return every week. Weve seen the impact the naiad has on the cheltenham markets, so while i would assume that less people would be taking part in this punt, at least to begin with, we would also be betting into weekday flat race markets with less liquidity, and so should still be able to move a chosen horses price.

It's important to note that the big plus point of this idea is the idea that we as a group can move the market to the point that we can lay off for a free hit, so that we can go as many times as needed before we get a win without any losses on the way. When I posted about this before people were sort of talking about not bothering with the laying off part, but that would be the big plus point with this idea, the chance that we could continuously have a free hit until a big win.

There were concerns when I brought this up before about people's accounts being restricted if continuously being a part of a big gamble, and also people not being able to get on quick enough if they bet in shops etc. We could take steps to alleviate those concerns as much as possible through certain measures.

For example, the bet is posted on here on the morning of the race at a specific time (say 9-10am) so everyone taking part can be ready whether that is with your chosen account open or while in your local shop etc. rather than the evening before taking early prices, which may be more likely to get you flagged. We could also agree to only go with a horse whose best price is widely available, not just with one or two bookies. I would also advise that at the start, you place the bet with a smaller bookmaker account, an account that you don't use much and wouldn't care about losing, just in case something like this would get you flagged (I really don't think it would, I think people are overly paranoid with this stuff, but just in case might as well be careful at the start just to test it out). I also think it would be a good idea to have a minimum price, say for example at least 25/1. Bigger prices are easier to move, and therefore increasing your winning margin, like for example backing at 33/1 and hopefully laying off at 16 or something if we can move it that much, rather than backing at 8/1 and trying to lay off at 6.

I'd be interested to see what people make of this, and whether a lot would take part. I'd start a thread and kick it off if there was a lot of interest. I could do lets say the first 4 weeks, and if i get a win then i stay on for another four. If not I pass the baton to someone else for four weeks, and so on.
