These races would probably be rerouted to Fairyhouse or Punchestown the following weekend

Can somebody clarify something. The new National Hunt Chase.
I have it that it is a Novice Handicap, 0-145 with no designated amount of qualifying runs needed. I can't find anywhere where it says a horse needs to run a certain number of times.

Obviously for non novice handicaps it's now 4 for chases and 5 for hurdles.

Thanks chaps. You are probably correct but will try to find out for sure. I have only just found out that there is a Mares allowance in this too even though it is a handicap. and the weights are different if the horse is 5 or over 6. I have got a couple of horses that have only had 1 run and would fit in here nicely but that would be out of the window.
'The National Hunt Chase is the last race of the first day of the Festival. It was formerly a Grade 2 race open to novice chasers that are ridden by amateur jockeys, however, as part of a raft of changes in 2025 the race is now a 0-145 novice handicap. The stipulation that only amateurs can ride has also been removed meaning professional jockeys can now enter this race.
The race features twenty-three fences jumped over a gruelling three and three quarter miles (3m, 5f, 201y). As well as being a novice the horses must also be over five years of age and weight eleven stone four pounds, or eleven stone six pounds if they’re over six years of age. Having said that, there is a seven pound allowance for mares.'

That last sentence seems to make no sense, in every sense.

As we’ve noted elsewhere on this site, however, the Gold Cup

I have just been speaking to another forum member and i said that some places seem to have mangled the old and new rules together on some websites but that one is completely new. Somebody has given them that information but you are right 'Q' it's head scratching.

It's a handicap, so the weight for age and mares allowance bit seems nonsense.
Just looked in the Jumps and pattern book and that race is fucking missing.
Amateurs.
