….he’s very unpopular anyway, even though he worked miracles last season. I’m wary of change in our position and they actually played really well yesterday for 87mins but there’s a lot of anger about. His saving grace could be that there’s nobody in place to sack him because we have an absent owner and takeover talks taking place.

Dyche is 5-1fav to be next manager to leave.

Might be worth a couple of doubles with Moyes currently unemployed. That's something they could do to appease the Goodison faithful. Not heard him linked to any job but it's only a matter of time before the clamour for his return begins. There will never be a better opportunity than now.

Kopek Des Bordes (14/1) - If he does go down the Bumper route then 14/1 would be reasonable. I'd much rather see him jumping though. Consideration.
Minella Premier (20/1) - Gone to Henderson. Dismiss
Keops Des Bordes (25/1) - Gone to Skelton so, whilst he might have a bumper campaign, it might be a light one with a longer term view. Dismiss.
Quantum Boy (25/1) - With Willie so every chance he could go for bumpers despite his age. If he went the bumper route he'd be one to shortlist. Consideration.
Goraibhmaithagat (33/1) - Don't know the trainer yet but performed like a horse that could be useful in bumpers. Consideration.
Drop A Threat (33/1) - Gigginstown staying chaser. Dismiss.
Classical Creek (33/1) - Rumored to be with Gordon so likely to have a bumper campaign given his age. He would be my top pick of the ex-pointers. Consideration.
Leaky Cauldron (33/1) - Rumored to be with Willie and looked sharp enough in his point. Consideration.
Shuffle The Deck (40/1) - Rumored to be with Ted Walsh. Rather back him for the Grand National than the bumper. Dismiss.
Sporting Glance (66/1) - Already finished second in a bumper, performing with credit. I'd say that was for experience before cracking on over hurdles. Dismiss.

The other horse from my horses to follow list was Final Demand, who hasn't been priced up. That's a wise move as he's a great big whopper of a staying chaser. He could be one that Willie goes straight over hurdles with or gives an early season bumper before going hurdling. He's one I'd very much like for the Albert Bartlett if he goes jumping.

The other, horse I like for the bumper who didn't run in a point is a horse called Minella Hollow. He ran in two bumpers over the summer but looked to have some ability given how ridiculously green he was both times. They hinted they could bring him back next season and aim for the 'big one' next spring.
RoadToCheltenham has confirmed Classical Creek is owned by Gigginstown. Normally that would dampen my enthusiasm for the champion bumper but O'Leary has eased his stance with the right horse. As Gordon and Gigginstown had the third home last year, there should be no reason he wouldn’t line up, should he obviously prove good enough.

                  • Just hoping that when i get my mitts on One Jump Ahead it kicks my ass into gear about Cheltenham and ante post betting. Dont think i have ever had so few bets placed by this time of year. Im really thinking that with the ante post prices we get offered now the only way to get a good price is rolling one up in a double for next year bur as we all know it dont come off all the time.

                    • I feel your pain Somer. Finding it very difficult myself to get excited about much. Just scraps about and the obvious ones that everyone else has done. I'm sure things will spring to life in October though.

                      • I would just like to suggest that people keep possible targets open for antepost horses open.
last year I suggested that Gaelic warrior would go novice chasing and impaire et passe would stay hurdling. Both much to the derision of the forum. Equally the target of ballyburn at the festival.
I would just like to introduce the idea that ballyburn May stay hurdling.

….a best price 7-1 CH, so the firms aren’t taking much of a chance.

I'd argue the value in thinking Ballyburn goes hurdling is in the other markets he may impact. That Champion Hurdle looks feisty this year if they all go...

Mullins is loaded in the Champion Hurdle this season, barring injury of course, so if they did decide to keep Ballyburn over timber it would more likely be for a Stayers and if they think he gets 3m this season then I’d imagine they get him over fences with a route mapped out to the 2026 Gold Cup….

                              • Adam Mills who hosts 'Prix De La Horse' has written an article and provided a downloadable list of all the French recruits making their way over The Channel - for those interested:
As the month of August draws to a close, we are now within a few weeks of the start of another National Hunt season.
