  • How's The Bets After Christmas?

I'm back to work tomorrow so will start this today. After looking though my bets the only thing that seems to have hurt me a tad is My Drogo not making the fest and not having Galvin for the GC. The only other thing that hurt is Appreciate It staying over hurdles. But the last two now sorted.

Had Sir gerhard for the supreme so hoping that bet is back on, Gallopin des champs at a nice price in the ex rsa now looks good, Klassical dream and Flooring porter in the stayers that I'm happy with, Minella indo was a let down but hopefully can bounce back in march, also wish I'd have listened to the guys who were sweet on Galvin, that looked a gold cup esque type of performance to me.

managed to get klassical dream onside today thanks to a win today offer, only problem is I don't have APT on side at all which is a problem. Shewearsitwell hacking up tomorrow on the bridle would top it all off though after that excellent round of jumping from GDC

I have a scattergun approach of using every free bet I can get (mine and the wife's accounts) and building a big book with each single paying around 1k. I've got plenty of good ones on board and I'm confident of another successful festival. I've been fortunate to avoid some of the big names that are out for the season or unfortunately dead, my biggest regrets are not getting onboard with Fil d'Or and Galvin. Other than that I'm in pretty nice shape.

You build a big "scattergun" book with free bets ?
That pays out ?1k for each single ?

Something not right with that I reckon.

It keeps me entertained over the year although it's getting harder to maintain as a few are banning me from promotions. BarrowNH01 will vouch though as he's doing the same as myself.

Isn't one asking what you would like to happen and one asking how you bets are looking after all the Xmas racing? Two diff things in my book.

Seems similar to me but then I'm too hungover to care

…..I dare say a mixed bag like everybody else but delighted with my position on todays two big winners. Been busy giving my portfolio a haircut, cashing out the likes of Abacadabras but plenty are in the ether.

Pretty much echoing Eggs above there. Very happy to be on GDC at 66s, 40s (same offers as Eggs above) and 28s single (Ladbrokes boost) with nice positions on Galvin (again the same offers as Eggs above) and Sir Gerhard too.

…..the April offers for GDC to win Punchestown Irish Mirror Hurdle & a/r @ 40-1 & to win RSA @ 66-1 look amazing now.

I’ve fallen in to my old trap of backing horses early, and then thinking I’ve a big position on them when I don’t. Been a big Klassical Dream and GDC fan all year, backed them early doors then haven’t touched them since. Cashed out a couple in the meantime given that other parts of the multiple have fallen away, and I’m left in a pretty weak position on them. Left myself with a messy book tbh. Need a much better strategy from here on (and moving on to next year).

Got a similar position on GDC here. Got some 25s and 20s in few multiples that will have NRs in. But because he's been much shorter recently I've not been adding anything on him. Regretting that at the moment

I’d certainly have taken the results so far before Xmas, not many have disappointed & many look even stronger now.

That could change a fair bit tomorrow depending on Journey With Me & the Mares race, so I’ll hang fire on any final evaluations until after they’ve been run.
