Hello Fat Jockeys,

Upgrading the Fat Jockey forum!: https://www.crowdfunder.co.uk/p/fatjockeyforum

We're looking to upgrade the 'hosting CPU' so I've set up a crowdfunding project.

I would love it if you could donate using the link below to access my project page. Any contribution large or small will be hugely appreciated. Thank you.

I wouldn't know pal, but I assume its miniscule.

It's not all doom and gloom. The Lancet publishing yesterday that the The Oxford/AstraZeneca Covid vaccine is safe and effective, giving good protection, is massive plus.

I’d like to think the regulators that approved its’ use have ensured it works and is safe.
Also, I don’t have the figures but isn’t the flu vaccine that’s administered annually only around 90% effective.

People can choose not to have the vaccine, that’s fine and their choice, my question is what those will be doing to protect people who want it and are waiting their turn...

Why not ask them, if they'd have the vaccine if they had an immune impaired child suffering with Leukemia ?
Or if their partner was overweight with diabetes ?

            I know they are hypothetical.

But it's not hypothetical for thousands of other parents and siblings etc, with whom people who refuse the vaccine for similar reasons may well come across.

There are many other examples of people who are at a higher risk to this virus also.

Whether any of the vaccines stop transmission is not as much as a problem as the virus tends to do more damage when the viral load is greater, meaning anyone with the immunity a vaccine can provide is unlikely to spread much if anything of the virus.

And presumably don't care if they pass it on to someone like my other half who has no immune system to speak of.

I wasn't intending on being quite so crude but both you and Q have picked up on the sentiment I was raising.

My wife has lung cancer which puts her in the extremely vulnerable group, she sits at priority 4 on the list and will get called once all key workers, care home residents and those aged 70 and above are vaccinated, we are guessing this will be around February.
What has been extremely frustrating for us is seeing the behaviour of those who either don't care, don't believe or are just ignorant because their age means they will be unaffected, the bahavior of any one of these groups could effectively kill her as the virus would undoubtedly be fatal.
It's bad enough watching these idiots at raves, parties, weddings, street parties etc with no consideration to the vulnerable who, for them, the vaccine will be a lifeline, but I ask myself when the world has role models like Kay Burley, Rita Ora and half the England football team is it any wonder some of the public are as ignorant as they are...

                  Good luck with everything
                  And well said.

Sometimes stuff just needs saying don't it.
And being subtle isn't always the best way to make a point.

Haha, you have been consistent for 3 years Q and rarely subtle, not that that's a criticism whatsoever...

                        I am.
Will be waving to my mum and dad (over 70's) and Gromma (95) from their back garden.

Do you need to isolate to wave at them from a distance? Or are you joking with me? I actually do go round my grans and talk to her through a window, but this will actually involve being in the same room so 14 days it has to be

I get what you mean now,

No, I'll be missing xmas dinner at my mothers, and just me and the wife and my daughter and her other half are having xmas dinner at ours.
I'll drive over and say hello after dinner.
