I just hope the decision to hold fire on spectator trials is a very temporary one, racing and literally hundreds of pro/semi pro sports clubs are on the brink without paying fans...
Hugely frustrating Ista. I can honestly see the majority of this seasons football behind closed doors and some lower league teams going into administration or worse with little or no income. Can’t for the life of me see any spectators returning this calendar year if events are having to be held behind closed doors if the infection rate goes above 10 in 100,000.

I’d like to think that any restrictions applied are done at a local level, so Donny is a victim of the current infection rate of South Yorkshire whereas Fontwell, for example, could proceed.
Flip that to football/rugby/cricket clubs and you may see a two week restriction imposed on clubs based on location but after that they can have fans back albeit in lesser numbers and maintaining social distancing.
Blanket bans on fans across all sports throughout the country will as you say result in scores of business failures...

        You are right Ista.

Whilst the most important thing is obviously people’s health, outdoor sporting events are as safe as anything out there. Very frustrating!

One way systems etc outdoor are so easy to manage.

        • Crowds halted because 'the current rate of infection for the borough has now breached ten infections per 100,000 people'.
Not deaths, but infections. Breached a 0.01% infection rate. But it's fine til tomorrow. And nationally it's as you were til next Monday, covid is chilling out for a few days.
Eventually historians will look back on this period as one of the key moments when, assisted by social media, we completely lost the plot as a society.

          • Anyone who voted for this squalid, corrupt government should be issuing a public apology and making the traditional pilgrimage to Barnard Castle barefoot across broken glass.

We'd have been much better in the hands of a communist.

                • Agree guys, these clowns running this circus are losing the plot. I am sure they put stupid ideas in a hat and pick one out at random and see how far they can take this.

Like I always say 'if no one listens then no one can dictate'.

There's little difference . The blame lands solely on those who decided JC was fit to lead the opposition. It gave Boris a free ride as JC was unelectable. They are the ones who should be issuing a public apology!

Wasn’t the Labour membership infiltrated by about half a million
Tory voters to ensure Corbyn kept getting re-elected ?
                        Genius move if true...

I like that theory Ista, it's almost plausible.

We'd having been living on cabbage soup had JC got in but at least we'd have free WiFi

                          Apologies for derailing the thread

Most Tory voters are not actually that engaged with politics which is the reason while their party membership is so pitifully small. The 100s of thousands who joined the Labour Party believed that a truly people before profit government was possible for the first time in their lives. Sadly despite massively declining readership the right wing billionaire owned press in this country still has a massive influence over the way the over 50s vote (that is what is really meant by Corbyn being unelectable of course). That is thankfully changing but it is going to take a little longer for the dramatic change this country so desperately needs to take place.

I blame Archie for the derailment

Engaging on this has just cost me 2.5 points as I was supposed lay that off on what turned to be a losing bet
