Maybe some Elite Sports TV coverage, such as football, are desensitising some folk from taking enough COVID precautions.

They may watch footballers jumping all over each other in goal celebrations, and in the FA cup celebrations in the changing rooms over the weekend - and think to themselves, “these guys can do what they like, so why can’t I?”

It doesn’t take long for a potential idiot to spring into action and start acting like a full blown idiot.

Sadly you are correct and nothing surprises me with footballers, self entitled wankers most of them.

        • Labour Party are demanding elite sports be shut down, an absolute disgusting party these days. I’m ashamed to say I was a member of the Labour Party at one point.

Is that the Daily Mail version of this?

            • Accommodation balance is due Wednesday and despite thinking might spend a week in the cotswolds watching on TV even that seems unlikely given the current situation.

I do have the option of rolling the booking to next year, but not sure on what the date could be either 8-11th March or 15-18th March.

Maybe this belongs in stupid questions

I think it's the second Tuesday of March. So the 8th
But it may be best to wait for someone who is certain.

                  Q,

I worked out the likely dates for 2022 from the last 20 years, Festival dates.

Festival Tuesday has always been in the range 10th to 16th March for all of those 20 years.

I’ve got a photo of my workings on this if you DM me your email address.

Makes more sense, cos I can't remember it being as early as the 8th myself.

It has never been that early in the 21st century.

The earliest it has been is Tuesday 10th March in 2009, 2015 and 2020.

The latest it had been is Tuesday 16th March in 2004, 2010 and this year (2021).

Afte the date reaches as late as Tuesday 16th March, then it pulls back a day each year (2 days in a leap year) until it hits Tuesday 10th or 11th, and then the following year it moves right back to Tuesday 15th or 16th and starts the journey again.

I am primed ready to book Monday 14th March through to the Saturday in 2022, with new accommodation required as my long-term B&B accommodation went bust 6 weeks ago.

Yep, every few years it moves back a week after a few years of creeping forward a day at a time.
I can’t remember it being earlier than last year (this year being the year they pushed back a week)...

I plotted Aintree as well, and it’s usually three weeks after Cheltenham apart from every 4th year on average (sometimes every third year, occasionally every fifth year), when it’s a four week gap.

I think Aintree is affected more by Easter, moving from Saturday 3rd April to Saturday 14th April in the last 20 years.

                                Thank You.

I worked out the history of the start dates for the Fez, when I lost my accommodation, to try and get ahead in finding a new place to stay in 2022.
