Don't think anyone's convinced, including the trainer, which is why she needs to impress before cheltenham.

Someone was convinced by her to make her go off 5-1 in an uber competitive handicap earlier in the season. Still can't work that out.

      Off 148.

Yeah, someone thinks she is capable.
Even the Red Mills is a tough race to try and get back on track, after her 2 efforts this season.

Hadn’t seen this until now! Was about to back her at 9/4 before seeing this. Very much appreciated.

              • Salsa dec'd up, small field, has a fair chance actually in that if she shows something like "form".

I don't rate her one bit, but as a NRNB 16/1 bet i can certainly see it.

                • I think I was incredibly 'harsh' on Salsaretta at the start of the season. Almost certainly quotable as saying she's the worst favourite ante post.....

As with these things though, it's all price related. I'm not sure 16/1 represents value now on the balance of her form still, but you can definitely see why she's more backable now than she was.

If she was 25/1 NRNB I'd back her. I'll have a think about her still.

Also considering Happy Diva again, at 25/1, now Kerry Lee has said this is the target.
Can I see her reversing form with Annie Mc though, back at Cheltenham?

                    :
Any criticism was never too harsh in my opinion, she was single figures for a race no-one knew the terms on full ante post terms, the price made no sense whatsover, in fact I was quite vocal at the time that it was impossible to have a serious bet until confirmation of the race conditions were known.
I can't believe this race will have any depth so a horse like Salsaretta at 16/1 NRNB does offer some value for me, I'm not saying there won't be better 16/1 shots before the M Pipe presentation is made but 16/1 is certainly not the worst....

you were right the first time. I also had her as the worst fav antepost on prices.

7/1 in April last year was nothing short of horrendous

                      • She's never won left handed and has been exclusively right handed over fences. Cheltenham form isn't very good and every time she has been in a decent race, she's been stuffed. 16s wouldn't be for me.

Just been looking through the list on Oddschecker and Maire Banrigh is listed by Unibet. Hasn't she been retired?

                        • Task just keeps gets easier for Elimay. No BDD, PTKO probably going QMCC, Hendo switching DDC back to hurdles, Colreevy looking Fairyhouse bound. One after the other after the other.

She won the same Grade 3 MNC at Clonmel in December, with a 5lb better RPR than Vroum Vroum Mag, and on ELIMAY’s chasing debut (where VVM had already won a Novice Chase earlier in the season).

Elimay then went on to the Grade 2 MNC at Thurles in January and posted a 6lb better RPR than Vroum Vroum Mag did when she won the race.

Her two Chase wins have both produced the best RPR gained in both of the races in the last ten years.

Elimay didn’t have chance to carry on the path that VVM did, when she won a further Grade 3 and Grade 2 win, which by the end of the season was 5 wins in a row and she had an RPR in the final win at the Punchestown Festival that was 3lb better than Elimay achieved in her two Chase wins.

Another winner of the December Mares Novice Chase Grade 3 at Clonmel in recent times was Gordon Elliott’s Shattered Love, who won it in her Novice Chase season with a RPR 4lb lower than Elimay produced on her chasing debut in the race last season.

Shattered Love went on to win a further Grade 3 and Grade 1 Novice Chase against the boys before lining up in the Marsh Chase at Cheltenham and winning it by 7 lengths from Terrefort.

Shattered Love was given an official rating of 144 by the British handicapper when declared for the Marsh Chase, whereas Elimay already has an official rating in Ireland which is 3lb higher at 147.
The Irish are usually more lenient with their ratings, so it would seem that Elimay after 2 races is already officially rated 3lb better than Shattered Love was rated, the day she lined up and romped home in the Marsh.

ELIMAY’s 3yo hurdles form was based around three Listed/Graded runners-up runs behind Whetstone, who as a 4yo the following season racked up 4 Graded Novice Chases on the bounce (2 Grade 3’s, a Grade 2 and a Grade 1) finishing with an RPR of 151.

Overall at this stage, of the Mares who have already been chasing last season in preparation for the Mares Novice Chase this season, for me she is the standout one, and trained by Willie which is always a bonus.
Good case from back on 16th August!

P.s. It doesn't matter if someone mentioned it first, I'm just bringing it up as a good case

She's 14/1, and not a novice, with decent chase form in the book (grade 2 winner).

She's a big price compared to Colreevy at 6/1 and Dame De Compagnie at 10/1 IMO.

If I could only have out of those 3, it'd be Elimay I think.
...and banging on about this not being a likely target for a novice seems to have worked out.

Although Colreevy not ruled out is she actually.

Happy Diva, Shattered Love, Annie Mc?

                                What a shite race
